TBH I'm pretty disappointed in J.Moore. I really thought he was going to be McD lite when we got him

It was his skating that made everyone think this. That and Torts' D system and deployment had him playing sheltered minutes and in an easier system than AV's, although you would've thought he'd have an easier time adjusting than others because of his skating.

Unfortunately, he'll never be anything near McD. He'll prob be a #4-5 D man who can pitch in on the PP. That's okay, as long as he can limit his brain dead moments.

Weird thing is, everyone wants him to be a OFD, when really he doesn't have great offensive instincts. He has a hard shot and is a fast skater, his skill ends there. He very often passes when he should shoot, holds on to the puck too long and forces bad passes, shoots when he has wide open players. Frankly, he almost always seems to make the wrong play with the puck.

I can't count how many times he's have someone open back door, but he'd hesitate, **** his stick, hesitate more and then fire a hard slap shot right into the unscreened and prepared goalie's chest, leaving me scratching my head. Then I'd come on here and people would be raving about how good he looks and at least he's shooting.

Oddly enough, the guy who got ran out of town and now is a UFA, Del Zotto, was and is more offensively talented than Moore. His confidence just hit an all time low. Weird as it sounds, the perfect partner to stabilize Del Zotto, would've been Klein. It would've been just like him playing with Sauer, which was a good pair.

Oh well, we have Johnny Moore now. And I don't dislike him, I just get frustrated by him because he has a lot of potential, but he just has terrible hockey IQ and makes some very poor decisions. Cliche of all the tools but no toolbox, really hits the nail on the head.

McDonagh is a freak of nature.

Moore is still only 23. That is very young for an NHL defenseman. Hardest position in the game to master.

Most defensemen don't fully "get it" or have a full grasp of the position and how to utilize their strengths and figure out what kind of player they are within their position, until they are in their mid-20's. Between 25 and 27.

Moore is very young. He has been progressing. Give him a couple of years.

Patience.

AV sheltered Moore literally as much as he conceivably could lol.

Well, MDZ is a FA at the moment, we could always sign him:sarcasm:

Oh I'm patient... I still believe in McIlrath

I agree with you.. I remember just yelling at him when he was just standing on the blue line winding up for a slap shot holding than passing even tho he had a screen in the front of the net and the person he was passing to was covered

I wanna see him on the wing. Said the same thing about matt Gilroy, but even more with Moore. Size, speed, willingness to shoot, hit, knows the defensive game well enough to see the ice well. But you restrict his decision making to one lane, and I think he could really be an asset.

If they get Spezza they will have MSL, Staal and Spezza with expiring contracts in 2015

Unless the cap goes up 15 million, Spezza will not be a ranger.

With Sather you literally don't know what he's going to do.. I'm so nervous for tomorrow :(

The problem is that you kind of do know what he's going to do. The most likely thing to happen is he signs Dan Boyle and Dominic Moore while letting everyone else walk. I really, really hope Boyle doesn't decide to come here, because that would be the most typical, uncreative, lazy Sather signing ever.

I see no reason to keep John Moore at all. Would trade him for a Pouliot replacement if possible.

Moore's value can't be any worse than Del Zotto's was so I'd say let's go fishing.

I'd be curious as to what a Staal, Moore, Miller/Fast/Kristo (etc) could get in terms of an offensive player. Does that get O'Reilly for example?

Boyle was terrible this year but he did play against much better teams.

He can still run a PP.

He would fill a need.

Not at $5 million plus. For that money I want Ehrhoff. He'd actually make sense to sign.

L.O.L. at people including stepan in trade proposals. Only on HF would you see garbage like that.

He had another good year points wise. His total has increased every year since entering the league. He will continue to progress. And quite honestly he did not even have that good of year.

I'm not sold on trading Staal either. People are crazy if they think Staal doesnt fall in line after McDonagh. Yes he is the more valuable player over Girardi AND Stralman. His size, steadiness, positioning and long reach make him a shut down defenseman that most teams would love to have. SCF exposure in a walk year hurt us with stralman...but that does not mean we should be keeping stralman over staal.

I would hate to trade Staal, but how else do the Rangers improve their offense without obliterating their cap?

This is where Gorton and crew advise sather on what the best bargains will be. They will have to sign more Pouliot's and Dom Moore's. They are out there imo.
