Yeah, but that line is already questionable defensively. I guess Pouliot wasn't a defensive stalwart either. Nash and Hagelin are both pretty responsible defensive forwards, while Kreider I'm not sure is quite there yet.

Offensively, for sure, Kreider is probably the best internal option for that line.

I'd try to keep Hags with Marty or Nash and I think Kreider plays a game most similar to Pouliots (although a lot better) and may replace him the best. However that leaves a hole on the 3rd. I fully expect a few rookies next year. Miller, Fast maybe Lindberg. Fast hopefully is a RW hagelin. Miller hopefully becomes dubi-esque, but im starting to have doubts with him. I feel like Allen is very close, if not ready, and will challenge for a spot next year.

Malhotra - **** yea
Skille - Hell yea
Thornton - Pass

Dude, I'm the leader of the Malhotra bandwagon. I want that more than anything this off-season.

Both are way better on the right. Throw in the salary Iginla will be looking for, it's a major pass from me, but a sort of typical Sather move. It frightens me that he's out there.

maybe as a Ranger.. He was successful with Columbus on the LW.

anyway, thats a discussion for another day... I'm just saying I"d take him only on a 1 year deal.. no risk there

I know the myth out there that "Nash can't play the LW", but he's done so many times in his career pre Rangers.. and Zucc has played LW before too.

the "Nash cant play LW myth" has kind of evolved into a "Nash cant play hockey" statement by a part of this board

Frightened by his 30 goals and 31 assists? I'm certainly not. He is the type of player you add to a team that just lost in the SCF

lol @ the excuses:

"You hate anyone not Swedish."

"Bunch of negative bashers." (lol, the same group who DEFEND RICK NASH, but yeah we're negative bashers)

"Just need to hate on someone because Richards is gone."

K.

Basically what Silverfish said, I hope he is right and we're all wrong for the Rangers sake.

When/IF Stralman leaves and signs that big contract to be the #1 or #2 guy somewhere... we'll see if he can handle it.. then we'll come back to this in the future.

It's not that Nash can't play LW, he's just not as effective at it.

People would rather create their fantasy rosters with people playing on the off-wing, off-side, different positions or not at all just so they can see what they think will be best.

Yeah I'd much rather be able to say, "I told you so!" instead of just seeing the Rangers sign Stralman and get to enjoy his consistency in our own top 4.

The Nash switch to LW would be nowhere neat the disastrous Gaborik LW switch forced by Torts. When we got Nash im pretty sure we all expected a LW because thats what he played in columbus

Skille barely played for clb no? I'm for Moore, carcillo, fast , vet cheap spare

I always found Skille to be incredibly frustrating his whole pro career, but he looked pretty damn good in the playoffs this season. Flying around causing all sorts of mayhem, finishing checks hard, playing strong along the boards. I was very impressed. But yeah, he didn't play much for cbj otherwise.

Huh. That's odd.

Rangers record with Del Zotto: 27-22-3
Rangers record with Klein: 18-8-3

One of those Win/Loss spreads is better than the other. I'm not a mathematician or anything, but I can see that.
Odd patterns emerge when you dissect the population into smaller subsections.

Rangers record on Fri/Sat games: 15-9-2 (1.23 Pts/Gm)
Rangers record on Mon/Tues games: 9-10-1 (0.95 Pts/Gm)

Bingo. He was part of the Dubinksy-Johansen line that drove Sid crazy.

Skille's got crazy good speed, he just couldn't put the skill together at the NHL level. A pest in the sense that he's like a flea or a gnat. And he can pot a few here or there, too.

Skille - Moore - Maholtra.

Yum

It's clear that Sunday morning church mass is the biggest detriment to the New York Rangers success, as they cannot recover in time for Monday and Tuesday games.

BRB, telling Sather to only draft Jewish players from now on.

I have a feeling Zuccarello will sign a great deal elsewhere, Sather indicated he probably can't pay him what he deserves.

Yes he really wants to stay here, but he will also listen to his agents.

But who cares, looking at the eliminiation game, Zucc is not that popular around here anyway...

Speaking about Nash, I really hate him and his contract. That underperforming player prevents this franchise from building a great team.

We really don't have any great assets that we should be trading. If Stralman is retained, I might be open to moving Staal for help at center, but I think we might just be stuck barring an under-the-radar move. I don't think we can bring in kids to fill all the spots, but I'd expect at least 2 kids to make the team. My primary guesses would be Miller and Lindberg, as there isn't a RW spot open for Fast. I'd definitely look for him to be in that 3rd line spot next year with MSL's contract up barring an extension.

So if Miller and Lindberg slot in, with Carcillo returning, that leaves us $7 million to find a 2nd or 3rd pairing d-man, a 2nd (or 3rd) center, and a 4th center. :help:

Kreider - Step - Nash
Hags - ??? - MSL
Miller - Brass - Zuccs
Lindberg - ??? - Carcillo
Extra - 925k

McD - Girardi
Staal - ???
Moore - Klein
Diaz

Zucc is not going anywhere.. he is a RFA.. and he had one good season.. in order for anyone to even get him an OS (that we won't match).. They will likely have to give him 4M+.. which based on last season results in a 1st and 3rd round pick in a deep draft next year.

How much are you paying Kreider, Zucc and Brassard?

So Klein can play top-4 minutes because he did so with a top-5 team in the league in 2011-12.

But Del Zotto is still bad?

I would love for Zucc to sign a great deal elsewhere

Slats is a big Zooks fan. We are in a jam salary cap wise but they will find a way to work things out. Today Slats said Zooks sees the ice as well as anyone in the NHL. The handful of Zooks haters on this board do not in any way represent most Ranger fans or the organization.

Sather will play hardball since he wants to save on the cap

Listened to him speak and I got pouliott is in a good spot but needs to take less to stay w the team . Zucc had 1 good yr, remember stepan did too

Kreider was in the minors

Miller us going to play

Boyle , Moore likely wantire than what there roles are. Will they take less to stay ?
