Klein has been a #4 defenceman on a top 10 defensive team in Nashville is a much tougher conference,

I have no doubt that he will be MORE than adequate for us at that same spot

Of course not.

That pair was short on offense with Stralsy. Klein is 1-way defense...

Klein played very well for us. I have no idea why people are now targeting him on this board with their bashing. He is a good contract and a slid defenseman. We could trade him tomorrow for a 2nd or 3rd round pick if we desired but there is no reason for us to do that right now.

Yea I'd much rather have kept DZ and let him go for nothing like the preds are about to do. Moore-Bickel is the dream bottom pair and we get to resign Stralman for like 6 million a season.

Dorsetts gone and so is Richards have to find someone other than the leading goal scorer over the past 2 seasons to irrationally hate

Yes, it's an unimagineable steal. DEL ZOTTO IS BEING SHIPPED OUT OF NASHVILLE BECAUSE HE IS NOT GOOD. HE IS CURRENTLY FIGHTING FOR HIS NHL LIFE! Klein, on the other hand is a proven capable top-4 dman.

What is happening? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

I'm not comparing Klein to Stralman.

You said it perfectly. The handful of almost always negative bashers on this board makes me understand why some athletes do not like the idea of coming to NY.

Here's an idea that doesn't include Stralman wears striped pajamas while Klein doesn't but Klein's corsi is better only on odd days when they're the first day of the week, The Kings aren't re-signing Willie Mitchell. Something to consider if we trade Staal he could be a cheap stop gap till Skjei is ready

lol Klein's contract is seen as one of the best in the league. Your hate for everyone that isnt Swedish is kinda funny.

Where is this stuff coming from, he makes 2.9m per. Hold a poll among 10,000 fans of other teams and I wouldn't hold my breath that KK gets a single vote in that cathegory lol. I could live with Klein on a top 2 pairing — next to a PMD. He is a very so-so fit with Staal. Far from optimal...

And I don't get why we are discussing Stralsy vs Klein, Stralsy is history because Slats didn't lock him up.

He sure does.

We're about to be paying one of our top-4 defenseman, a steady player, $2.9m a year.

I'm pumped about that. Klein is easily my third favorite defender on this team. He's gonna look crazy good with Marc Staal next year. I really can't wait :yo:

Sather shouldve tried to do more and Stralman is better than Klein. I havent seen anyone argue this. Blaming Klein because Glen is stupid makes no sense. Saying DZ is better than Klein is just wrong. 2.9 for a 2nd pairing dman like Klein is a great deal.

Here's the thing:

We could lose Klein for a draft pick, free up $2.9m on the books, and give $5m to Stralman for the next years, adding $2.1m to the roster.

Or -

We can have a comparable but notably less good defenseman on our second pairing, one less draft pick, and $2.1m extra on the books to use elsewhere, like say signing Benoit Pouliot or a comparable winger to sure up our third line.

Or

Two players like Jack Skille and Manny Malholtra to perfect our fourth line for a second straight season.

Not to mention, signing Stralman would add $2.1m to the books every year for the next 5 years let's say, while letting him walk frees up that $2.1m for the next 4 years of Klein's contract - until we do end up trading Klein because one of our prospects is ready to step in and be effective on an ELC.

Klein @ $2.9m has higher trade value than Stralman @ $5m a year.

Despite being the worse defensman (and I don't want to add fuel to the fire here, but I really don't think Stralman is THAT much better than Klein. Better, last season, but not OH MY GOD WE DID WE KEEP THIS BUM KLEIN @ $2.9M A YEAR INSTEAD OF THROWING IT AT STRALMAN AND THEN SOME better).

I think Staal-Klein is going to seriously impress some people next year. But lord have mercy on the HF server when Klein is on the ice for a goal against.

My team:

Kreider-Step-MSL
Zucc-Brass-Nash //I think Zucc could be moved to LW.
Hags-Miller-Fast
Carcillo-Moore-x
McD-Girardi
Staal-Diaz
Moore-Klein

There will be a lot of opertunities to improve that team during the course of next season and before 15/16.

I would like to mix the lines a bit. We got 3 real good RWs, Zucc could handle changing sides best if played in more of a free role.

Putting Nash with Brass and Zucc is interesting. Nash is solid defensively and that line really could use that.

I'll just agree to disagree, since nobody will convince anybody.

However, all i'll say is that I REALLY hope Stralman is resigned because Klein in the top 4 will not end well, IMO.

I think Stralman IS worlds above Klein.

Not to mention Nash is a hell of a lot more talented offensively than Pouliot. Only things that worry me would be chemistry, Nash not utilizing Brass and Zucc, and Nash not using his size as well as Pouliot did.

Brass and Zucc would love to play with a guy like Nash. I also think Hags would work well on that line.

I think that's the way to go.. If Brassard is going to be our 2nd line center next year, surround him with real good talent on the wings, Zucc and Nash.. Nash replaces everything Pouilot did and on paper a much much better scorer.

I feel like hags needs MSL or Nash to produce offensively. Hags does a ton of good things when not producing, but when hes with someone as talented as they are his game is on a different level. Kreider on that Brass Zucc line would intrigue me. Bigger faster stronger better shot than Pouliot. He just seems like a total upgrade for that line and he looked good with Zucc earlier.

Stralman, Boyle, and Poo are all gona walk imo.

The rangers could invest in Iginla on a short term deal. 35+ contract.

Yes, yes, if we have every RWer in the world, no one else will have one!

A lot of people (myself included) are going to be disappointed with all the ELC players we have on the roster next season

Yeah, but that line is already questionable defensively. I guess Pouliot wasn't a defensive stalwart either. Nash and Hagelin are both pretty responsible defensive forwards, while Kreider I'm not sure is quite there yet.

Offensively, for sure, Kreider is probably the best internal option for that line.

Or you sign guys out of the bargain bin such as Maholtra, Skille, Shawn Thornton.

I know the myth out there that "Nash can't play the LW", but he's done so many times in his career pre Rangers.. and Zucc has played LW before too.

Malhotra - **** yea
Skille - Hell yea
Thornton - Pass

Dude, I'm the leader of the Malhotra bandwagon. I want that more than anything this off-season.

Both are way better on the right. Throw in the salary Iginla will be looking for, it's a major pass from me, but a sort of typical Sather move. It frightens me that he's out there.
