take a look at our pp please. we were brutal.

boyle production would have lead our team.

we need a guy like him. even at 38, hes still money on the pp compared to what we have now.

The question about Boyle, and this to me is why many UFAs in the past (more distant past) hasn't work for the Rangers is, was the PP good because of him, or was he a good piece to that puzzle but there were other things about that PP that made it better. In other words, is there something missing up front on the PP, personnel wise or style, that still will be evident if the Rangers fix the point?

Gaborik, tin man. Can't stand him.

Dan Boyle? Please sign Stralman. A Staal-Boyle pair would be brutal.

Staal is going to demand 6+ million, trade him now while he has value, sign Stralman.

After we traded Brashear to Atlanta, they bought him out and he still cost the full 1.4 mil against the cap according to capgeek, but I guess they were wrong about that. Funny that it took that long to find out.

Yeah, I had originally thought the same thing myself. Was cleared up during the compliance buyout conversations last year.

I guess the argument against this is that Staal's value may dramatically increase if we shop him at the deadline. If we aren't winning at that point then fine, lets get something valuable out of him. If we are winning, thats all that matters. It's a win-win if we wait til then. If we ship him off now and then we're not winning at the deadline or we just need another piece, a big trade-piece is gone.

I'd give Stralman 6 years if he wanted it.

It would take him 34 years of age. His entire prime would be played here.

6 years/24 million, 4 million AAV.

Get it done. In 2- years that contract will be a bargain.

Trade Staal.

Staal isn't going to ask for six million and if we trade him who are we going to replace him with? His big good defensively has a long reach and can eat up a lot of minutes

Everyone wants to trade him for a center. I would trade him for his replacement. Take a small step back defensively for a young player with potential and a cheaper contract.

The downside is huge, it means we let Stralman (our best defenseman after McDonagh) walk for nothing, and replaced him with Boyle.

A Staal-Boyle pair would be a nightmare, except it would'nt be a nightmare, it would be real.

I'd rather keep staal.. for all me know stralman could drop without staal

The corsi numbers state the opposite. And beyond the stats, all anyone needs to do is watch and its clear as day Stralman is the better player now in this system

Getting a little concerned that they are going to screw this up.

Staal will not be worth what he is going to demand on his next contract. Stralman is 100% worth the 4ish million per for 5+ years he is seeking.

How are you defining winning? Being in playoff position at the trade deadline is a far cry from winning a cup. If we keep Staal, lose in the 1st round and then Staal walks, then what? It's a gamble either way, but management needs to make their decision now, not 9 months from now.

Stral is a UFA, trading Staal now doest guarantee that he stays in NY. It opens the risk of both of them being gone and then we're left with a potential Boyle-??? lineup? There are too many unanswered and nightmarish questions if we dump Staal before figuring out Stralman.

Dont get me wrong, I would much rather trade Staal and keep Stralman. The way this has to happen however, concerns me.

I cant help but feel there is no middle w Stralman its either heavy overating or heavy underrating going on here. I'll give him 5 years but 4M max per

Am I the only person who thinks that if Kesler's available we should be pursuing that? I haven't seen a lot of mention of him, but I am practically drooling at the thought of Kesler added into our lineup. Maybe I'm just missing Callahan, but a top-line center (if not a fantastic 1a to Stepan's 1b), who can not only play on both sides of the rink, but plays with an attitude, a chip on his shoulder, and physicality. I remember the comparisons to Messier during that Nashville series a while back. Plus he's played under AV and had his best years with him. Right-handed, great one-timer, net-front presence...it just feels too perfect. And the stuff about injuries are obviously real, but playing on the less intense Eastern Conference gives me some confidence, plus his deal ends in two years. I say get him without giving up Stepan, and it's a win.

I hope so. Kesler past his offensive peak a couple of years back.

But it doesn't matter, he doesn't want to play for AV again, according to multiple sources.

You are probably the only one.

1. He hates AV and does not want to play for him, evidenced by his denial to waive his NTC for the Rangers

2. He's on the wrong side of 30 and is injured a lot recently.

3. We don't have the young assets Vancouver would want.

4. He doesn't bring nearly enough to warrant that said price tag.

Yeah, he has apparently been very open about not wanting to be in NY. IIRC there were talks in Torts last year where he rejected the idea.
