2nd intermission. Edmonton Oil Kings lead the Guelph Storm 4-2. Guelph had better make a big push in the 3rd or we're getting an upset.

Broadcaster noted that the Guelph Storm had not felt an ounce of adversity once in this tournament, outscoring the opposition 18-7. Perhaps not facing adversity has been a disadvantage?

Corey Perry being interviewed. They asked him about L.A. "Both teams are pretty good. L.A. is a very tough team to play against. They're built for the playoffs. They're big, they're strong, and they go at you every minute of the game. You know, it's a tough team to get by. We had our chances. It's a tough way to lose in Game 7, gettin' beat like that, but you move on to next year and get ready for next year." They reminisced about when he played on the Memorial Cup-winning 2005 London Knights team and talked about how big the players are now. Good interview, Corey was well-spoken.

Guelph Storm storms onto the 3rd period to score with Mitchell's goal. 4-3.

As I type, Edmonton's Samuelsson scores to make it 5-3. 4 points for Samuelsson in this game.

Edmonton Oil Kings with the upset, 6-3. Guelph Storm players fighting back tears. Oil Kings holding up the jersey of their late teammate, Kristians Pelss.

Thanks for posting, PJ. Oh well, was hoping Guelph would win and that Ebert would
be the #1 star. All in all, Ebert closes out a great year. Hope the Kings sign him now.

Guelph faced plenty of adversity in the North Bay series, with two late comebacks (in one game they scored 2 goals with 30 seconds left to win). But yeah, they didn't really have a lot of trouble during the round robin and I think that might've hurt them a little bit tonight. Full credit to Edmonton for coming out strong after two ridiculously long games with little rest.

It's a disappointing end to an otherwise amazing season. Ebert took a big leap and will definitely be signed. Leslie also took a step in the right direction this season and is looking like a solid pick as well. He's a good all-around defencemen, but doesn't really stand out in any one area. I was a bit disappointed in Auger though. He really needs to grow into that huge frame...definitely a project pick. Needs to be a lot more physical and work on his foot speed.

All in all the Storm were the OHL champions, that's definitely something to be proud of.

Oil Kings Understandably Emotional After Realizing Memorial Cup Dream

In the Western Hockey League final against the defending champion Portland Winterhawks, they found themselves trailing the series down 2-0. The games weren’t even close and the Oil Kings were written-off until the eventually forced a Game 7 back in Portland. They became the first team in WHL history to win a Game 7 on the road...

“That sums up our team. We’ve always found a way.â€

Taylor Burke, captain for the Gatineau Olympiques of the QMJHL, has received an invitation to the Kings' training camp.

Nice article about one of the training camp invitees -- Kevin Raine, former captain of the Sudbury Wolves in the OHL.

It's really neat to read about how determined he was to get a shot at becoming a pro with the Kings. Says a lot about his character.

"I just went in there with the same mindset I've had the whole time, that hard work pays off," said Raine, the Sudbury Wolves' outgoing captain. "I was the first to win every race, I set the tone in our workouts, I did drills more than I had to -- I did everything that was asked of me and then did a little bit more. I did all the little things and I was there with an open mind, I was there to learn, and I asked questions. I wasn't shy, didn't hide in the back of the group. I was front and centre for everything.

"I went in there and made sure I was seen, that I wasn't going to be not seen."

Apparently, the Kings brass wants to see even more of the hard-hitting 21-year-old from Dryden, Ont., as they've asked him to attend not only their rookie camp, but main training camp, as well.

U20 World Junior Evaluation Camps are currently going on and a series of games are being played. Sweden played two different USA squads and defeated them in both games, with Kempe tied in the scoring lead for Sweden with 3 points in 2 games.

Kempe had a goal and an assist in today's 6-2 win.

I honestly feel the Kings got a STEAL, and should be the Kings Top prospect, I see him for sure a 2nd line Center with 1st line potential...He is not even 18 yet...

What's with all the D ratings for LA's prospects? Would rather see some A's, B's and C's. D's seem unlikely to attain that mark. Good job with it though.

Almost nobody receives and A. With that said, I think the vast majority of the ratings are worthless, so I wouldn't worry about it

LA Kings' Top 25 Under 25: #25 - Zac Leslie from Jewels from the Crown

Given that (possible) fact, Leslie may have a nice niche to fill. It is quite certain that the Kings are short of immediate defensive depth beyond the NHL level, regardless of how you feel about Forbort and Gravel. If Leslie is able to continue fueling an upward trajectory in his hockey career, he could be a pretty quick riser through the Kings' ranks.

A's and B's are super rare.

C's are more common among proven players and players with a more projectable skill set.

D's are the most common, but that isn't a bad thing at all. It just means they might be a boom or bust style player or that they have one-two pretty decent deficiencies in their game they need to work on. They could pan out no problem.

Perfect example is Jordan Weal and Brandon Kozun. Both are "Undersized" to a degree and they both needed to prove that they could overcome that. Both were rated as 7.0 D's at some point. Weal has proven he can play where as Kozun struggled with that, among other things.

It's not a perfect system and I feel like people need to realize that projecting prospects is an inexact science. Even by the professionals. Remember when Benoit Pouliot was taken 4th overall and Patrick Stefan was taken 1st? It's an inexact science. We do our best with it. It's not perfect and it's hard not to fall in love with every prospect you watch in a system and say "Oh yea this guy has NHLer written all over him." You have to be honest with yourself, the player, and the team he is trying to break into.

I always rate on the safe side, meaning low. I'd rather call a player a D and have him exceed expectation rather than calling him a B and have him fall short.

Almost nobody receives and A. With that said, I think the vast majority of the ratings are worthless, so I wouldn't worry about it
