LOL Eklund also said Emery/Mason is the best goalie tandem the Flyers have had in years. REALLY?:laugh:

OK, now I'm sure that his NJ pick is a total troll. NJ finishes 3rd in the division, makes the playoffs. That's my pick.

BTW, LeBrun over at ESPN just said that he likes Ottawa because of their goaltending tandem... but they pick NJ for dead last in the division even though they have a stronger goaltending duo. Typical ESPN

He still hqs the Flyers finishing in 4th though.

We do have the best goalie tandem in the division if Marty can adjust to playing less games than he used to. Cory is the second best goalie in the division too behind Lundqvist.

Eklund also said Biron could be the starter on a few NHL teams when talking about the Rangers. That's not something I agree with at all. Biron is ****in garbage, and not too much better than our beloved Moose. If Lundqvist got injured, the same thing would happen to the Rangers with Biron starting that happened to us with Moose starting.

So then there's no chance of NJ finishing 2nd? :sarcasm: I'm not too excited that the only person not writing NJ off is Eklund, even though he makes some good points (for once). I am confused.

That is the weird part. He is making good points. We are going to frustrate the hell out of teams. We don't have a true sniper, but we are deep as hell so opposing teams don't know where the goals will come from. The D is solid and the goaltending is going to be great.

If we can get our special teams in order things can and will get very interesting.

This is so true, we can run 4 good lines at them all night as long as Gionta, Janssen and Barch are not on the big team.

So true, it all depends on Marty's attitude about games played.

If the PK is back to the upper echelon of the league that will make me happy.

What I meant was that Marty will likely be playing less games this season than any season he's been healthy. If he can still be pretty good while not having a heavy workload. He's always been better when playing more.

It will make me happy too. Not sure why they took Barr off the PK for. I figured if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

It means we might actually win the division.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. Winning the Metro division isn't happening this coming season unless our PP improves 100%, we don't have any injuries and Marty accepts less, a lot less, regular season games.

Cory is better than Lundqvist you may not believe me now but you will by the end of this season.

I understood what you were saying Marty like playing a lot of games in a row for to get his timing down he isn't a good alternate every other game goalie.

Why are we making up stories that don't exist?

Jim what are you talking about? Marty wants to play every game, he wants consistency he doesn't do well alternating games. That's the attitude adjustment I was speaking about.

Forget it's Friday CG, it's the same remark everyday.

I think eventually he can be as good, and I said that when we traded for him. It is nice to be able to be almost on par with Lundqvist. At least it's not like those fools on the mainboard who think Scam Ward is better. Or even worse, Holtby or Bobrovsky.

Also, I see a lot of you have Jagr playing on the third line. This would be a huge mistake. His point total would have been second highest on the devils last year only one point behind Zubrus i think. Considering that and his age you are not going to get the most out of him on the third line. He is too old and slow now to play a shut down checking role he needs top 6 minutes and powerplay time to be effective.

why is the third line a shut down checking role?

we will be rolling our top 3 lines pretty equally.. all as scoring lines. Our "checking" line will be whichever one has Zajac on it.

Our third line wouldn't be a checking line. We don't use a checking line. The de facto shutdown line is usually whatever line Elias plays on. That's what it's been the past 3 or 4 years.

I still am not crazy about Josefson being paired with him though. Josefson has looked good in the preseason, but I'm still not convinced he'll pump out that much offense.

amazing that people don't realize that the third line is only a checking line if you make it so.

there's no league rule that mandates needing to have a checking line.

I think Jagr will be in the top 6 for the most part, but I could also see him on what would be considered our third line.

well if your rolling all 3 lines equally thats one thing but most of the teams in the nhl do not and that goes for powerplay time as well but then again I have not watched to much Jersey up until this year other than your run a couple of years ago.
