I can't believe the league actually scheduled a preseason game between the Rangers and Canucks. Travel that far for an exhibition game just because of the coaching switch?

Really?

LAME DRAMA GRAB.

The Rangers can't play any games at the Garden during the preseason because of the renovations going on. So after playing the Devils, Islanders, and Flyers at their homes (which they can do training out of their practice facility in Westchester), they went on a west-coast road trip, playing in Las Vegas, Vancouver, and a few other places I think. They will also start on the West coast, with the advantage of being used to the time change out there, before returning to MSG towards the end of October.

Clowe - Zajac - Brunner
Zubrus - Elias - Jagr
Josefson - Henrique - Ryder
Olesz - Loki - Bernier

That's my preferred lineup. The top 3 are interchangeable and the 4th line is not a big drop-off. Keep Carter and Ted as your spares.

I would interchange those lines quite a bit. Just an observation ;)

ok - that makes more sense, shenanigans recalled. But they did the same thing to last year's schedule for renovations too - starting a month on the road but then the lockout happened. How many years is it going to take to get that toilet bowl suitable for seating in October?

I still want Loktionov in this lineup. Carter has had a nagging injury. I would think Loktionov and Josefson will both be centers on opening night.

Carter is back at practice today. There's really only starting spots left for Olesz, Josefson, Loktionov, Gionta, and Tedenby.

I really don't see how Olesz and Josefson don't get those two spots. There the two best players of the group.

Based on time on ice stats over the pre season games he has played...it's safe to say we'll finally see a full season of Larsson on the top pairing? Sweet.

I would hope so. He looks ready to be the #1 guy to me.

Can't wait to see how this team does early, especially on that Western trip.

Fan if these lines. Think they can do real damage.

Loki would be the extra forward here so those wanting to see him play he will. I fully expect either some sort if rotation getting him in or of course injuries.

Kid looked good but jim is right here. JJ and olesz have looked better in preseason and have won first dibs on the last spots.

Holy smoke you are impatient. He's 20. Can we really say "Finally" and "Larsson" in the same breath about anything?

Finally Larsson will be able to legally order a beer in the United States in a few months.

Finally Larsson won't be eligible to be invited to the World Juniors this year.

Finally Larsson will be able to get into night clubs without having a black X sharpied on his hand.

Eklund has us finishing 2nd in the Metropolitan

#2 The NJ Devils

Their best player is unquestionably... debatable. But that’s what makes them scary.

The guy who will have a huge breakout season is... Adam Larsson.

The person with the most pressure on them has to be... Ryan Clowe. He signed quite the deal for a guy who has not really been all that consistent.

Their strongest suit is.... their team defense and their goalies...yes goalie(s)

They are trying to cover up for the fact... they don’t posses a true sniper (Elias posibly excluded) anymore and have to fight for each and every goal.

They could surprise everyone by... simply winning way more games than anyone expects

That ticking you hear, it is called... Are Lou and Marty Playing out their last season?

Their fate is changed by re-alignment because.... ....it’s the Devils...they don’t think about their opponents...I got nothing.

Their focus/readiness going into the 2013-2014 season could best be described as... extreme

Some prognosticators are missing the simple fact that... they are the best coached team in the division.

Between the pipes they are.... scary

The expectations on this group are... to play hockey and let the chips fall.

If all goes wonderfully right... the Devils are laughing at all those placing them at the bottom of the standings.

If all goes horribly wrong... the scoring dries up and everyone goes cold at the same time.

If they are buyers at the deadline they will target... no one. If the Devils are in the buying position they never make trades...they have been known to switch coaches....but not this coach...

If they are sellers at the deadline they will likely move... Jagr, Zidlicky, Brunner, (Marty?)

My Craziest prediction (which could NEVER happen) is.. The Devils struggle to get any scoring and have to explore a new system...I said “Crazy.”

My Realistic Prediction (which you should absolutely not take to the bank!) is... The Devils will be the most frustrating team to play against in the league. They are physically tough again and they are primed.

I'd personally switch Zajac and Henrique because I think Zajac will work better with Clowe and Henrique with Elias and Brunner.
