I think Slats might go the trade route this off season (especially if we dont buy out Richards). The question is who is available from the Rangers in trades.
You're crazy. His buy-out will be spread out over 14 years.I just dont think Lecavalier is going to get as much as some think, call me crazy. He's already making bank and he doesnt even have to play technically.
I'm curious what the logic would be to trading Boyle and signing Lapierre.

I'm sure Boyle can learn the system.Recoup assets if someone values Boyle and sign a comparable player who knows the coaches system?
Explore a trade for Bolland. Trade Boyle. Sign Lapierre. Buyout Richards. Sign Vinny Lecav
Is anyone saying he will get a six year deal? Gross. He's not going to get a 6 year deal from anybody, mark that down. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong.

Not if if requires giving Lapierre a 4 year deal.Would you do a deal of Lapierre + 2nd '13 for Boyle?
That is what I am talking about. Moving Boyle for a 2nd this year and signing Lapierre.

Yes, many believe he will get 6X6..
I would take him at a 2-3 year deal though absolutely. Lecav on a 2-3 year deal > Richards til 2020.
Cap space to use on something worthwhile > any of those options.

Mark Messier is leaving the NYR. He says he is pursuing an opportunity to develop the Kingsbridge National Ice Center in NYC.
Glen Sather says a decision on Brad Richards' buyout is "coming shortly."
Sather: no decision on Richards. "But we will shortly"
What is there to think about? Buy him out.
