I think Slats might go the trade route this off season (especially if we dont buy out Richards). The question is who is available from the Rangers in trades.

Boyle, Pyatt, Asham, Powe, who knows Hagelin could be traded in a package for a better winger, Del Zotto, Staal, Stralman, Girardi. Not saying those dmen will move but they would all be before McDonagh and Moore.

I just dont think Lecavalier is going to get as much as some think, call me crazy. He's already making bank and he doesnt even have to play technically.

Who knows. But looking a teams from top to bottom, I can find a boatload of teams that Lecavalier would make alot of sense on. If you can rule out more than ten teams that definitely aren't a location for him, you are doing a good job.

In that situation, a player tends to be costly.

Like you said, if one place really is attractive for Vinny, he got money on the bank and before we knowing he has signed for like 3m per with a co tender. But I wouldnt be suprised if alot of teams were willing to ant up.

It's all about balance.

need to be able to score close to 3 goals a game while giving up just over 2 goals a game.

We are barely matching what we score to what we give up.

It's sickening. I really do think that the fact that the Rangers have a hard time scoring is very alarming and will continue to drag them down, more unless it's fixed relatively soon whether it be a better transition, breakout, lines, or something. Game's worth nothing if you lose 1-0.

Sather and the Rangers brass are meeting with Newport tonight regarding Lundqvist. They also represent Richards. Girardi and Zuccarello too. The smart move is buying Richards out like TB did with Vinny. Sather doesn't always make the "smart move". He has been running this organization for 13 years. There are kids graduating from the 8th grade this week who were born when Sather became Rangers boss. The Rangers have had one good year in those 13. Take away the 04-05 lockout year.

Get rid of him.

Who? Richards and Sather? Sounds like a plan to me.

so looks like the Rangers are planning on waiting to see who they can get in Free Agency since they can talk to the UFAs early.

so if they have a cheaper deal with Vinny L, Weiss, a guy that can replace Richards then they buy him out and get that player.

If not they may keep Ricahrds and risk it for a yr.

Yeah, but with the Toronto/Tampa situation I mind, I think alot of people out there right now are thinking of options. I would be really suprised if Slats manage to find one. But it can't hurt you to wait as long as possible.

Vinny L's production started to drop from elite when Stamkos was drafted. But he was never in the same league as guys like Joe Thornton, Evgyeni Malkin, or other big centers we associate him with.

Unless, for some odd reason he wants to play here for cheap, it's a non-starter. Montreal and Toronto will throw contracts at him. I'm betting 5 years 25 million. Nice haul for the guy.

Girardi is about as safe as anyone else since he's one of our only two RHD and a top defensemen.(and plz lets not turn this into a Girardi debate guys)

If Barkov is at that spot, I would do it. Hedman is a #1 dman.

Barkov over Jones?

I was considering an exception for McKinnon, but Barkov, while excellent.... those righty D are scarce now.

Prefer the D lineup I suggested,
tentatively, w/out any pickups, etc., or further effort to add a higher C, your immediate pivots are

Brassard
Miller
Lindberg
Boyle
Haley

Yogan likely to push Boyle.

so why not Jones?
Or did you expect it was certain we could pick up the 5th for Marc Staal and then with Jones, forget Faulk, just use the 5th overall on Barkov? Would he be there at 5?

I think the Richards buy out comes down to whether the organization feel Stepan and Brassard can be the #1 and 2C going forward. If they feel they can, Richards will be bought out, if not, he won't JMO

That center depth is worse than most pee wee teams.

Haha that was not the goal BUT if they are receiving a RHD back for him then he could definitely be moved. Once again not saying he will be. I see Del Zotto or Staal(to CAR) as the two dmen who COULD be moved.
