You guys are great at reminding me why I don't post here often. Love the thread, anyone want to tell me how you fit Vanek or Horton in our cap situation and keep all our players that are home grown? And if you say buy out Richards need I remind you how most of our high priced UFAs work out for us?

BB, I think you and I are not far apart, I just have Miller projected as a 3rd line center, no need to get one when you have a stud that needs time with the big club...
 
Rangers can fit in a ufa without buying out Richards honestly. 13.5m cap space. mcd, step, hags won't take all of that
 
Would you guys take interest in something along Kesler and Staal? I think he woulda add that size and grit up the middle that we could use.

id rather do that then Skinner but Kesler also has had some injuries just not head injuries.. Kesler id love to have on the NYR.. adds some grit and size.. but watch some fans rather have the Rangers sign Daniel Briere if bought out :help:

Miller will get a chance for sure, I liked what I saw from him.
 
Using Beaver's buyout money, I think we should sign Filppula and Horton. Flip @ 3.25M, Horton at 5M. Nothing too long though, 5Y at max. This way, we avoid huge roster turnover.

Zuccarello-Brassard-Horton
Hagelin-Filppula-Callahan
Powe-Boyle-Dorsett

McDonagh-Girardi
Staal-Del Zotto
Moore-Stralman
 
I think Horton will command more term than we should be willing to take on... unless there are lingering injury concerns.

Flip is looking for 5+ annually. We might get Horton for 5
 
Kesler for Staal is really interesting... This depends on what we think of John Moore. Mcdonagh will eventually (very close) turn into our shut down dman.

Vancouver fans have been looking for a center to push Kesler to RW for years.

Then who is Kesler going to play with? Zuccarello? Hagelin? There's no snipers on that line. And I'd prefer Callahan on the 3rd line.

Being an elite shutdown center doesn't preclude one from being a shooting center. The guy score 40 goals 2 years ago.

However, I'm worried that his injury issues have become a major problem. Then again, I'm worried about the same thing with Marc.

Defensive pairing without Staal
McD - Girardi
DZ/Moore - Stralman
Moore/DZ - Eminger/McI

That second pairing is iffy at best. unless you are planning to get another top 4 LD or RD.

I wasn't implying he isn't a shoot-first player. He is. But he is not better suited at right wing, and I don't really care if VAN fans believe that. The guy won a Selke.

ur right, the best move is still to move Del Zotto for forward help (center, winger), then sign someone for the other spot
 
I would move Staal for Kesler for sure. But that's mainly contingent on his injury history, which somehow looks worse than Kesler.
