He was pretty good last season.
And he was this season. I am not sure if people realized or not, but he has similar numbers as Shattenkirk (22 vs 21 PTs). He may not have been pleasing to the eyes, but I blame the system.
He was pretty good last season.
Clowe will get less than Clarkson. Clowe has injury history going against him.
That tells me 3M is the ballpark. That obviously assumes he is healthy.
Like I said before, you have a valid point about the 2nd rd pick. I struggled with it, but I decided he is what this team needs and he likes it in NY, hence it's worth it.
If Clarkson wants something around 3.5M, I'd strongly consider that. But no more.
Speaking of Clowe, he gave up on his sign-and- trade demand from teams when he couldn't find anybody willing to give him an eight-year deal in the range of $51/2-6 million per season.
Garrioch was suggesting at TDD that Clowe camp were seeking an 8 yr deal worth over $50 million!.

With those demands, I don't really see him taking a discount for 3m.....
i bet something like this gets done...
Del Zotto Boyle and 2ed in 2014 to Jets for Mark Stuart and Burmistrov??? and NO i dont want BIG BUFF or Enstrom... overpaid and overrated
yep and he responded by being abysmal. He had that stretch this season where Staal went down and he played very well, but after that he was 100% a liability. This inconsistency stuff from him is getting old, I really think he's expendable at this point.
I'd love Burmistrov but that's an AWFUL trade. He already wants out of the Peg so he can be acquired for cheap, it's been suggested MDZ for Burmi and a first or second. Awesome idea imo. Also, no Clarkson please. Gonna get massively overpaid by some team and I surely hope it isn't NYR.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the idea of signing Mark Fistric. Open ice hitter, PKer, fights. McIlrath isn't ready yet, and even when he is, he can't handle all the physicality. Why not sign Fistric?
The Burmistrov value is quite similar to Turris trade value.
Burmistrov = Turris (At time of trade)
2nd = 2nd
Kreider <= Rundblad (At time of trade)
The more I think about it, the more I'm starting to warm up to acquiring Burmistrov. Boston is winning with a first line tweener (Krejci), and Bergeron and Seguin up the middle, whom at this time are 2nd line centers.
We'd have ours in Stepan, Brassard, and if acquired, Burmistrov, assuming Richards gets bought out. Burmistrov can play wing if Miller or Lindberg play themselves onto the 3rd line (I think one will). I'd also seriously explore what it would take to get Bogosian or Buff out of Winnepeg. Skating and weight aside, Big Buff is exactly what this team needs; a big right handed shot from the point. He's mean and nasty too. He's probably a wet dream though, as I see Bogosian way easier to acquire. Solid but not quite living up to expectation. RFA this summer.
He'd be a good depth signing if Eminger isn't brought back. The guy gets exposed a lot in his own end for a guy that doesn't add much offense. I'd rather pony up some cash for Scuderi if we're going the route of signing a defensive defenseman in case Staal isn't what he should be coming off of injury.
DZ is expendable. He played awful this season and even worse in the postseason. He isn't going to succeed here, the things that are wrong with his game are things you can't fix. He has a horrible hockey IQ and he's really slow. MDZ for Burmi straight up would be a great deal, but we have leverage for a 1st or 2nd cause Burmi's value is so low right now. Going forward, Kreider is more valuable.
Nah.
Rundblad wasn't coming off of a promising playoff performance.

Byfuglien supposedly is on the trading block this summer as he's "expendable", dk how but I'd take him. Problem is it'll take the kitchen sink to get him, as for Burmistrov it'll take just a roster player cause his value is shot. No way in hell WPG gives up Bogosian. He does everything and he's still very young, they'd be complete fools to part with him (not saying I don't warmly welcome it) but I see that as something that'd NEVER happen.
I don't know about Scuderi he's great but he's going to get massively overpaid for a guy with no offensive capability. Probably 5 mill or something.
I think it's quite strange to suggest Kreider is more valuable than MDZ. Despite average AHL production, NHL production at 4th line level and average college production, somehow he is an elite prospect of some sort. MDZ is an established top 4 defenseman, only 1 yr younger than Kreider. Will Kreider have same impact as MDZ has on this team, I personally do not see it. MDZ = Underrated.
5 million? There's no chance he gets that. I'd bow out of the bidding if the asking price is more than 3.5 million.
Going Forward I believe Kreider will be more important. I said already, MDZ's flaws are things you can't fix. He has a hard shot but he misses at least 5 times a game, he is slower than molasses, he makes awful decisions and his stretch passes RARELY connect (maybe 6% of the time), and at times he's just a flat out liability. His hockey IQ is awful, and that's not something you can learn. He's an extremely raw player, he gets by on talent alone. I've stuck up for him for a while but he was just mindblowingly bad down the stretch of the season and the playoffs. Maybe in a new system he can excel but I don't see it.
Is Rundblad available? Would love to get him.
He was definitely not awful in the regular season. He has the best stretch pass on this team and can make smart, creative, offensive plays. Last season, he was very good defensively and this year, I thought he filled in fine for Staal until the 2nd round of the playoffs rolled around. His skating is average, not slow and IQ is definitely a concern, but he fills in fine as a top 4 defender, especially with his physical play and improved board work. Kreider on the other hand, scares the hell out of me with his lack of hockey IQ.
He's making 3.5 million now, and winning another cup is only going to drive his value up (and maybe even another this year). He definitely will not come cheap.
