What's the latest on Brunner? Not counting what the Eklund wannabe has been saying.

Bartolla is reading these boards. There is a proposal by a Devils fan on the trade board for Phaneuf. Eklund 2.0

No they won't. Pete played Kovy because it was the best thing for the team. Giving 2 more minutes to D'Agostine, Sullivan, Ponikarovsky, Carter, Loktionov, Matteu, Kostopoulos, Josefsoni, Gionta, or Bernier wasn't goig
g to help the team at all.

Kovalchuk is a tremendous hockey player who has the ability to play a lot of minutes. Just because his P/60 or G/60 isn't anything special doesn't take away from how good he was for us. For his entire career he was his team's #1 scoring threat having to play against the other team's top defensive pairs and put up .51 G, .49 A, 1.00 PTS. He would have been a lock for the hall of fame if he didn't just quit.

Kovy ATOI was never 26 minutes.

He averaged over 26 minutes the fist half this season he was pushing 28 minutes and led ALL players at one point.... He finished just a hair under 25 only because of the injury and when he got back he wasnt being double shifted and playing the full 2 pp minutes...

you just keep saying he is good.. what does that mean? you even admit his point per TOI suck but he just good at that's it? He was an anchor around the neck of this team and is exactly why we missed the playoffs for 2 of the last 3 years for the first time in over 20 years.

I still think EZ-Ryder will be a very effective line. Been said that Ryder needs a playmaker, and you can't ask for a better one in Elias, and Zajac will win them tons of face offs to make plays. Patty is going to set up a lot of goals for Ryder and he will rack up lots of assists because of it.

The thing im most worried about come next season is Elias's production. No im not worried about his age, im worried that now he's our #1 offensive threat. He will be matched up against teams tops pairs and playing against teams top lines. I hope that he continues his consistency.

Ya it is all status quo. Enough fire from the swiss guy and TG yesterday that definitely should be something soon. Right now some nobody spouting crap, but he is just trying to get a jump on it.

Be surprised at this point if it doesn't get done honestly.

Elias-Zajac-Ryder
Clowe-Henrique-Brunner
Raymond-Lokti-Zubrus
Olesz-Carter-Bernier

This isnt half bad.

I really like that forward lineup. If we can then package our extras (josefson, tedenby, some of the d-men) for a solid d-man and somehow get rid of volchenkov / salvador, WIN!

I'm not too worried about it, he's primarily a playmaker not a goal scorer. If he's not getting assists, can't really blame him lol.

I don't know how his coach could handle his ice-time, but Kovy played under 20 minutes per game in the KHL last season. I never saw him play the full two minutes of power-plays either.

No no, not bringing in more D. If we send Volch off it will be a rook's chance out of camp to win a spot. If we are going to free a spot up we need to let some of these kids get a shot.

Man if that is the Brunner deal i am SO down for that. Would be an excellent signing.

I would personally like a signing of Raymond more than Brunner. I think Raymond could be a perfect fit with us and the system DeBoer employs.

We had 13 games that went extra time. 4 of the first 6 games went to overtime. That is the only reason why Kovy was leading the league in minutes. Plus Kovy at the time was one of the few players on the team that was in actually hockey shape since he played a ton in KHL.

Kovy was the only reason why we even had a chance to make the playoffs these last 3 years. Brodeur/Hedberg was more of the reason why we missed the playoffs last season especially. Our team just hasn't been great.

Kovy was great in the clubhouse and worked his butt off on the ice. He is going to be missed tremendously.

If we make the playoff this season it isn't going to be because we don't have Kovy. It is going to be because of Schneider.

I'm not well versed on Brunner's play. Supposedly the Red Wings think very highly of him, but $3,000,000 per year is too steep of a price for them? I hear he's a hard worker, heart and soul, loves to shoot the puck, but not so great defensively (which is a problem that can be fixed with this team). What else do we know about him?

The thing is, Detroit doesn't want to pay a guy 3 Mil to be a third liner. Too much depth. Brunner can fit nicely in our top 6 for 3 Mil.

Remember when we were a 1 line team after the lockout(2005)and the best line was Elias -Gomez-Gionta and we still managed 40+ win seasons...

We have more talent and balance those teams today and our defense is better. I expect similar results.
