any chance of Bouche getting a look, I mean 4 goals 3 assists in his last 4 games (2 with Albany?) or are we going to need a tough guy like Barch for people that want to play dirty.

Don't think he can play on the big club this year, but wouldn't be surprised if he got a chance next year especially if we don't make any moves.

Reid Boucher... are plethora of defensive prospects. Henrique, Loktionov...

No future Brah... :shakehead

not to defend datw’s thoughts, but our pipeline, especially offensively, is pretty bad. I don’t see how anyone can think any different? im not even really blaming lou for poor drafting, its just a product of being a ‘middle of the pack’ team for 10 years. our 2 biggest hopefuls were JJ and teddy (offensively) and right now one neither one can put the puck in the net at the NHL level.

Henrique and Loktionov are already part of NJ.

Our forward pipeline consists of Boucher, Coleman, Matteau, Gavrus, umm?

My point though is we have the assets to move to improve either the pipeline or the current team because of our glut of solid looking defensive prospects. In addition Reid is looking like a real winner of a pick that I certainly wasnt considering up there before this year.

Future is not purely prospects. Are both Henrique and Loki going to be playing for this team in the foreseeable future?

we rushed larsson to fill a need. same with jj, teddy and we tried to do it to urbom among others. i wouldnt be surprised if he makes the team next year, although id be disappointed

our defensive core right now is not great. over the next 3-4 years, (barring trades) the development of severson, merril, larsson, gelinas and possibly urbom are either going to make or break this team for the near future. which makes me extremely hesitant to trade any of them away, since its unlikely that all pan out.

we have very few draft picks to deal away (and we shouldn’t, anyway)
we don’t have a forward lineup that makes the opposition **** their pants or have teams clamoring for them

as has been said ad nauseum, lou needs to either be a seller or a buyer today. but he won’t and around and around we go

Reality check time, we should be sellers not buyers. With Pittsburgh and the Bruins we're not going far in the East this year, I doubt we get by Ottawa or Toronto. Less one Parise, Kovy hurt and slumping Zajac and Henrique, one year older in Marty, Sally and a few others. Plus, we're very weak in prospect forwards and not many picks in our pocket, they should move Elias and Clarkson with the understanding that they will try to re-sign both in off season. That's how we can get better for the future. Devils had their magically run last season; I just don't see it happening this season. Sorry but that's the way I see it.

I say roll with what we have. Brooklyndevils is right. Although I don't think we should be selling unless its a definite sweet deal in our favor. Next year isn't going to be a miracle either we have too many youngins and too many elders, were at a point where turning into the islanders and getting picks to trade and hurting for a few years to get back is our best bet.

Lou has just done such an amazing job, its actually hurt us(if you can say 3 cups hurt you), I mean in the last 20 years we have been to the cup 5 times(robed both times by refs , not calling anything on Bourque so he can have his cup and retire, and the non call on Gionta last year so the kings can finally have theirs.). Without any all stars, but with a TEAM. We are already considered the 2nd most elite team in current hockey, next to the Detroit redwings. Its just too bad we didn't put those 5 runs in a row, and all our bad years in a row, so not only would we would have been a dynasty, we would have had time to rebuild into one , once again.

Its very sad to say this, we have so much potential but our players are not producing. If they produced, this would be a much different story.

But hey, lets not all have sad faces, lets get into the playoffs and lets see. We all know anything happens. We do always seem to bring the worst out of the best teams, but sometimes the best out of the worst, so hopefully this time if by some miracle we make it deap, we end up playing a high seed

So you're saying we have even less futures then those 2? Our forward prospects are bare, I have no idea how that is up for debate.

Urbom is ready. was ready this year but the 8man log jam forced him to have another year in the A's

Call me crazy, but I think Merrill, Severson and Scarlett will all be career NHL players whenever they're ready to make the jump.

The little I've seen, I think you can just tell.

I hope not. Talk about getting a raw deal.

hes going no where. We even still have Jaque, Are coaching staff is top notch. I really don't know what stevens is doing with all these break downs, maybe he needs to put on some skates and show a few people a shoulder or 2

If we miss the playoffs Deboer will get canned.

In a full season, you might be right. But in this mockery of a year? No way.

no way. Finals the year prior, start out on fire this year with even less horsepower and then see your best two players out of the lineup for extended stretches... that equals a pass for everything save a bench toss.

I think Zidlicky should get pushed down to the 2nd PP unit. Put Greene on #1.

It's pretty apparent that Zidlicky is more of a "do-it-all" offensive force. He creates chances by himself. He doesn't necessarily feed off his teammates that well or make them much better. As such, put him a role that's better for that on the 2nd PP unit.

From TG:

With Zidlicky not out there, assistant coach Scott Stevens filled in for him as Bryce Salvador’s defense partner for the first few drills. Stevens (who is just in coach’s gear) and Mark Fayne collided during one of the drills and both players went down.

I doubt it very much. The lineup just isn't that good, and the injuries, etc. I think even if we were in 12th the whole season Deboer gets a pass because of last season. Lou is a little trigger happy with coaches, but I don't think he's that callous.
