Lupel isn't playing tomorrow which is good for us.

Wish I had a list of games we've lost without a team's top player.

I think we lost to the Habs without Subban, Pens without Letang, Caps without Green, Sabres without Vanek, Sens without Spezza/Anderson/Karlsson, and the list goes on.

I thought Subban played in the Habs game, at least one of them. And to be fair a lot fo teams have lost to the Sens without Spezza/Anderson/ and Karlsson

I'm sick and tired of Lou to be quite honest. Yeah Lou I get Kovy is out a while, but why did we even bother with wasting our 7th (yes its an outside chance they become NHL material) but of all people you trade for Steve Sullivan. A guy who has 12 points in 33 games and is a -8. Its horrible asset management by Lou and trading our 4th/5th for D'Ags was smart and the 5th for Lokti was amazing but I just don't get bringing back some of these old players. Lou seems to have a problem coming to terms with the fact he needs to move on from these old guys. LL has trouble breaking ties with old players, yeah he did it with Sykora but to be honest Sykora I think would be a lot better than Clarktard on the 2nd line because atleast Elias and he showed some chemistry.

There are players like Patty, who are still putting up 70 points a season and those are the old guys you should keep, not bottom 6 fill ins and players like Rolston.

The handling of the D situation is also another terrible decision by Lou. There is no reason for Adam ****ing larsson to be sitting in the box. All Lou had to do was trade a D for a ****ing third, that's it! But no, now you're gonna have guys unhappy sitting in the box because Lou can't break ties with people. I loved Lou but now I feel like he's lost it and I can actually say I do not have much faith in his decisions. You are all head over heels in love with him but when you look at what he's actually doing to this team, its going to hurt us real soon. Instead of getting younger, what does he do? He finds players on the wrong side of 30 to use as stop gaps, and who are they stop gaps for? More 30+ year old stop gaps.

Lou needs to come to terms with the changing game and fix this team. We are headed in a bad direction.

I'm gonna give Lou a chance going into this UFA season to do something. There's a few guys we could sign, and a few guys who might be bought out who aren't completely washed up, but just bad for their contracts they're on. We can get someone to replace Parise, and it doesn't need to be as good as Parise. Something like the way we replaced Gomez with Zubrus, although Zubrus proved to be the better signing but at first didn't seem like he would be better than Gomez and I don't think he was expected to be.

If it means departing with Clarkson then so be it. I'd rather pay Nathan Horton $5 million than Clarkson $4 million. Hopefully they don't make a mess like last UFA day. Patty shouldn't see the market. Give him what he wants unless he wants a 4 or 5 year contract or something absurdly long for someone his age. Just no more 8 defensemen EVER, and no more Tedenby for the love of god. Consider Loktionov the gem, and move on. Mattias will not work with Pete.

Lou's rep took a hit this season. He did not give us the best chance to win.

Lou's rep has been on decline for awhile. It's not necessarily his fault when you set the bar that high, but he's definitely not that cap defying mastermind that some think he is.

I wanna blame our Hucksterbeek owner, but he had the money to give Salvador that contract. Every time I wanna lambaste him for lack of funds I think about that. I was hoping the rumors about the Calgary oil investor buying the team were true. Some fourth period BS.

My only ownership related complaint is that we didn't let the Wendy's guy buy a share. I wanted free baconators, dammit :(

That was a really old rumor. I forgot all about that guy. I don't feel very comfortable with Vanderbeek. He'll probably send out another letter this year if we miss the playoffs. Apologizing to the fans or something like all those years we got outsted in the first round.

For what its worth though, I imagine the "letter from the owner" will be a yearly occurrence, regardless of finish. The finish will likely determine the tone though. It just seems to be the way of sports these days. Don't know how many years straight Devils fans have gotten that from Vanderbeek, but I feel like I see/hear the same concept from so many teams. At the very least, it seems to be something STHs receive annually, if not the general fan base.

Lou did a pretty good job last year, and his moves this year have been good so far as well and he hasn't given up any warm bodies to do it, which leaves the team in a better place to either build for the future or try and put together a trade for another big time forward in the offseason.

With the prices that went for the rental shooters he was smart not to pull the trigger on any of them. Much better to keep our 1st rounder for now. Ya I wish he traded one of the D-men, but again for the millionth time, did it ever cross anyone's mind that other team's were not very interested in him or Volch or anyone other then the untouchables except at bargain basement prices...and maybe having the injury protection is actually worth more then a 7th rounder? I doubt there were any offers that were worth taking for them. Most teams are not taking on cap if they can help it other then the few that are just rolling in cap space.

And again who in the offseason before or after the lockout were we going to sign? Doan wasn't coming here. If we signed Semin to that deal the crys of over payment would be deafening and the board would be screaming every time he didn't backcheck. Hell if Lou somehow got Zach back at that price half the board would be pissed at the contract.

Criticism over not giving up last year's 1st round pick is fair, as is how Matteau has been handled this year (though I think he was about to be sent down to the Q, but Zubs injury stopped it) And I don't want to get into the Sykora debate again. If he was worth filling a roster spot up, why isn't he in the NHL right now?

Can't blame him for expecting JJ to take a step forward this year. We all thought he was going to. Tedy...well I hoped for it but didn't expect it but we had to give him another chance this year like it or not to see if there was anything there. They didn't work this year, but he did a good job replacing them (think Dags and Loki are big upgrades over them).

Also let Sullivan play a game or two before we call that a waste trade please? He might surprise you and pull a Sykora on us with a change in scenery.

problem is we play playoff hockey all the time (grind out games, take the bounces we can), i think if we can just get there we can make some noise. we're not very talented without Kovy, but taking our lumps now and hopefully getting hot next week is enough to make the playoffs, either way, i'm taking my leaf fan Dad, uncle and cousin on an 8 hour drive to New Jersey for the game tomorrow i REALLY need to leave the states with a win

Did they send one last year? I wasn't a season ticket holder last year after moving two years ago.

And yeah about Sykora I really believe something happened there. Even Patty seemed annoyed that he wasn't brought back when interviewed during camp. They have the same agent so I hope Walsh don't pull some **** on Patty and brainwash him. These agents have a way of doing that.

A lot of people thought Boulton being bought out (Only to sign Barch) had to do with him being mad he was sat in the playoffs, and possibly he asked for his buyout. We never found out like when Pandolfo said he asked for his. I think Sykora did something to somebody. Rubbed them in the wrong way, or had a bad attitude. Might have had to do with getting sat in the playoffs.

Honestly couldn't tell you. My family has season tickets, so if they did, my dad definitely got it. That's just not something I've taken particular note of. I'm sure someone else may have a better recollection of it though than I do.

He also did nothing IN the playoffs which might of helped him take a seat in the playoffs. Maybe he didn't like it. I just don't buy he only wanted to play here or in Europe thing. If another team wanted him after Lou said no he would of went and played there.

I still think he got offers, but the better ones came in the Summer before the lockout I'm sure. Maybe he only got training camp invites once the lockout ended. I think he said he wouldn't accept a camp invite, just a contract.

I don't believe there was anything written. I know Chere claimed one team had a contract offer on the table, but I believe that was proven to be untrue (and if it wasn't, kind of silly to pass it up unless it was that bad an offer...though I don't know what he expected us to offer him)

Well I meant from other teams. He probably got none from us. If Darche got invited to a training camp I'm sure Sykie got invited to one or two. He said he wouldn't accept one though only a contract.

Only thing I can find is Chere claiming he got one contract offer, but it wasn't us or the Caps. He didn't take it obviously if it was real and not just crap Chere was making up (which he is known to do).

Lou also wanted Tedy and JJ to play and there were roster limitations. Maybe if we didn't have 8 D maybe Lou brings Sykora in. IDK, but I doubt Sykora wanted to come back and sit in the press box half the season.

And then there was re signing Janssen too which made me :facepalm::banghead: do that pretty much. Why he even started the season on our roster with the two way contract I don't know.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've read all week.

You want to cry about Sullivan's 12 points? That's 6th among forwards on our team. His 6 PP points is more than anyone on our team. 7th rounder? Are you joking? The last three 7th rounders we drafted to play for us were Pikkarainien, Leblond, and Eckford.

Anyone who thinks trading a 7th rounder for a player who improves our PP and gives us depth is a complete buffoon. How can you possibly complain about this trade?

If you think it's so easy to do his job, please explain to me what young, promising players you want Lou to magically grow? Were Dags and Loki not good enough? You want more? Lou practically robbed two GMs because they had logjams and we're still going to complain about his work.

Lou gets an A for how he handled this season. The only thing I wish he did differently was to get rid of a D-man, but it sounds like the price wasn't right. The team gets a D- for execution.

There is no possible way to blame this season on Lou at all.
