Its a shame my first post comes at such a horrible time for the team but I've been reading these boards for too long and the frustration of these last 2 months put me over the edge so I feel like I need to contribute here.

I still don't think this team is done yet. Last night definitely gave me a little boost of confidence that they can get possibly get this turned around soon. Having said that I have no freaking clue where the goals are coming from since Kovy ain't coming back till the last few games and Clarkson, Henrique, and Zajac haven't shown signs of turning it around. I think Sullivan will actually help since he seems like he still has a solid shoot and can put the puck in the net better than most of our roster. Im actually WAY more frustrated after last night than I was after the debacle's last weekend cuz they acutally put the puck in the net in Florida but just got some awful breaks. The way they failed to show up for most of the Islander game then the way Rask made it look so easy against us yesterday really pissed me off. I mean how many of those shots besides for the 2 posts were real legit chances? They absolutely have to get 2 wins this weekend. I actually have more confidence in them showing up against Toronto, even though they always plays us tough, than the Buffalo game. That game has disaster written all over since this team cant beat garbage teams. I'm nervous about that one.

I still really believe we make it even though its not looking promising. There's too many veterans in that locker room and I just cant see the *** damn Islanders making it instead of us, I just cant. If we get there I really think we can do damage because the East is not frightening. We can play with any of the top teams and beat them. NO question in my mind. We just have to get there somehow, someway:yo:

The notion that Tedenby is terrible is exaggerated. And we can cycle the freakin Tour de France down there, if the most talented man to get the puck to the back of net is Clarkson, unless Loktionov is having a night where he's on, it doesn't give anything more that honorable losses where we score zero goals.

Pete has a big thing for size and strength, I get that. But when you have so little goalscoring talent on this team, so little playmaking talent on this team, but oh yes, we have Poni with his big size doing almost nothing game in and game out...I don't know, maybe Teddy is not on the organization with the right coach for him.

You're spot on there. I'm pretty meh on teddy but I think there is a place for him in this league, just not on the Devs...

He would be better in the West no doubt.

But I don't know where you want to play him and what capacity. He is a turnover machine and on a team that cycles he can't contribute. Kovy is poor on the cycle but adds goal scoring other ways. Tedenby is dreadful in the D zone and decisionmaking through all zones. That part is not exaggerated in the bit.

For all this crying for Tedenby I haven't heard what to do with him other than we should play him somewhere. He doesn't fit on a top cycling line, can't play D to play a bottom 6 role, and would need to play with a top role. Unfortunately we need to win games now and can't try to put him with Lokti and/or Elias and lose those games too.

Sounds like some good news on the Kovy injury front.. I'm hoping he can be back this time next week.

Larsson: “I never doubt what I can do out there. I have that confidence in myself and I think that’s good. But, at the same time, when you’re sitting out for a long time or just for a short break, that doesn’t make your confidence better"

Thanks Pete, you ****** up Larsson's confidence. No wonder that his game regressed since first benching.

There is no logjam to block Tedenby and he still can't crack it. Speaks to me. Him and Josefson will get their chances next season.

I can see Whitney passing him along with Boucher because Tedenby is terrible. Maybe Whitney and Boucher have learned some D somewhere and don't look lost in cycles.

Well Lou already tried that this year and it was a complete and utter failure so I really dont want that happening again. It we lose some our UFA's (Clarkson, Zubrus, Poni) and replace them with those scrubs, like we tried to when Zach bolted and Sykora got jettisoned, I'll lose it. Im pretty much done with both of them especially since Lokti has been outstanding and seems like Boucher can be something legit. Man those 2 whiffs by Lou and Conte aren't too hot right now. Hopefully Boucher, Merrill, and Gelinas can balance that out

Yikes did he really say that? That doesn't look too good on Pete especially since Volchenkov and Harrold are getting opportunities instead of Larsson which is completely Pejorative Slured and to a lesser degree Salvador who I think has been ass all year but since he inexplicably got the C he's immune to benching. I still think Larsson will be a very solid player in this league but this year has been total cluster**** with the 8 d-men fiasco

I hate to **** all over Lou still, but he's part to blame for carrying so many defensemen. Pete doesn't help because he handles young players terribly. That's one of my problems with him although I still think he's an outstanding coach. That's why I said as much as I don't wanna see Tedenby in a Devils jersey again I think I understand the people who blame Pete. After seeing the way Larsson's been handled, and players like Suckchenkov being in the lineup more than him.

well lou and his 8 d-men didn't help either. like ndjevs26 said a few days ago, it might have been best for larsson to have stayed in the ahl and develop without the yo yoing out of the lineup.

Thanks! I've been roaming around this site too long and really needed a place to vent after the nosedive this team has done recently. SO MUCH frustration. The first period against the Isles the other day was the icing on the **** cake for me lol. Last night was better but a pain in the ass. They should have gotten at least a point there. But yea ill probably often! This place is really great:yo:

Lot of pressure on Marty tomorrow night.

I could see the Devils hanging with Toronto, but Marty will have to be steller with no soft goals allowed again.

lou made some poor decisions with the roster this year. hell address them next season. hopefully.

I try to not question Lou, but I really wasn't happy with how this team came into this season. Then again, I'd like to think that his hands were tied, because I can't for the life of me believe that he didn't have serious reservations about their depth and the logjam at defense. Too many d-men is only a problem if 7, or all 8 for that matter, should be playing regular minutes.

That said, the roster has improved since the start of the season. It's a better team on paper, without question.

He didn't allow any soft goals last night. That changed direction right in front of him. No chance to close the legs before that's in the back of the net. He made a few big saves too including one in the slot during the 1st period, and a few during an ambush in the 3rd. Overall the team did a really good job at limiting play in our end.

Yup the Isles game was a killer. The difference between the Isles being in a playoff spot right now, and not us are about 2 games we played them this year. The last game in their building was another absolute no show, and they didn't arrive at the building until the 2nd period the other night. This team never plays with the same energy against the Islanders as they do the Rangers, Flyers, or Penguins.

he is our number one center. since zajac jumped the ****ing shark that is. kid needs to work on his faceoffs over the summer.

Totally agree. Lokti has been this teams number 1 center since he made his debut as far as im concerned. I have no ******* clue what happened to Zajac's offense. I know hes not a goal scorer but hot damn he has completely no showed in that aspect. If he doesnt rebound next year then Lou is gonna look like a turd for that contract.

I'm not worried about Zajac's contract as much as I'll be worried if Clarkson gets overpaid combined with Zajac's contract.

$11 million a year between Zajac and Clarkson might be as bad as $10.5 million a year in Suckchenkov, Salvador, and Tallinder. Not that Tallinder's contract is that bad, but combined with the other two. That's a lot for stay at home defensive defensemen. Although Tallinder is a good puck mover, and can get 25 points a year unlike the other two who are lucky to get 10.

Yea as soon as I heard the length and the amount of money those 3 D- men got with those contacts I knew they would come back to bite us in the ass. Volchenkov and Tallinder have never been as good as advertised when they were on the Sens and Sabres. Both of them have regressed it seems like since they made their debuts here. Salvador got rewarded for the playoffs last year but giving a 37 year old a 3 year deal is dumb. I love Sal cuz hes been through a lot here but that just wasn't smart by Lou

I love Sal too man, but when you think about it once we re signed him that's when we had 8 defensemen. We already had 7 locked up. The contract is very Pandolfo like. I really like Sal, and actually wanted him back too. We just have too much money in stay at home guys. All the stuff DATW has been preaching for years, I think he's actually been right.

I know, that's why I said again. He did not allow any softies last night which broke the string of games of one softy per game in the prior 4 or 5.
