Based off Hiller's comments after the game I suspect Turcotte is out and Lee will come in. Haven't a clue how that will affect the rest of the lines

Assuming Turcotte is out (hopefully that's not the case), I'd love to see the Kings try something like this tonight:

Fiala - Kopitar - Kempe
Moore - Danault - Thomas
Foegele - Byfield - Laferriere
Lee - Lewis - Jeannot

Jeannot can't play with Kopitar and Kempe. Thomas would probably be in over his head in that role too. Byfield needs to be at center especially with Turcotte out. Moore could be an option but he still hasn't been playing great.

Laferriere is really the only other option to play with Kopi and Kempe - I'd be okay with that too (Laf is a beast) but Foegele - Byfield - Laferriere has been pretty solid so I'd like to see them get more time together.

Praying Byfield gets one tonight.

Teams go through ups and downs over the course of the season.

This isn't exactly a controversial observation.

They do, and it's not, but trying to limit wins based on those highs/lows, I mean Buffalo, one of the worst teams in the league, beat Dallas, and lost to CBS, what can we glean from that? (Here's a hint, Edwin Starr knows)

This is why I'm so pessimistic about Turcotte. If one hit like that causes problems, I don't think you're going to have a sustainable NHL career.
Blake needs to find a more durable, high energy guy to replace Turcotte on Kopi's line. He'll be injured sooner or later. Takes too many big hits on the boards.

Wild games are always fun! Did we have an 8-7 against them last year?

Yes. But we have a 13 game sample size now.

I've said it a few times; hockey is unpredictable. Kings could get it together and be a very good team this season. It's POSSIBLE in this league.

But as of now I remain unimpressed by what I've seen. My thesis is the franchise has no direction. Not good enough to contend, but also not rebuilding.

A win today in Minnesota would be impressive.

Especially playing the style he does.

If he were a finesse scorer it's maybe a different story, but the style of play he has to play to be successful in the league doesn't really jibe with someone who has concussion problems. And as discussed in yesterdays GTD, he doesn't really have it in his DNA to turn the motor down.

I think in hindsight, Brisson was smart to get him to sign the 3-year deal for 800k a year, or whatever it was. I was wrong in thinking a one-year deal was better for him, because he had upside to establish himself as a solid bottom six'er and make 3x what he was next season and the year after. But for someone with his concussion history, it was probably right to take the 3 years that was being offered by Blake, even at close to NHL minimum.

13 game sample size where they got to choose their opponent right?

I suspect him signing that deal means he's not even confident in his ability to stay healthy.

Get some financially security while you can. 775K isn't a lot for an NHLer, but it's still a great deal of money for most people. The contract 2.3M overall.

King's are doing well in the standings despite playing like garbage for good amounts of the games. It could improve or just break.

Offense, Hiller has them trying to skate through 4 guys before trying cute passes. Just get the shots on net. This team doesn't have the skill to skate through 4 guys & try a cute pass. Shoot through traffic, get tips & rebounds.

Nashville: King's won in a shutout!!! We'll just overlook those crazy saves Kuemper had to make because of defensive breakdowns.

Maybe Hiller's plan is chaos hockey?

If this is a concussion, does anybody know how many concussions this is for him?

I know there was one in his draft year, I don't think any of the issues his season at Wisconsin were concussion related, was there three with the Reign and now one this season?

I could only imagine what it must be like for a player to have to consider a decision that ends their dream right as he finally establishes himself, but that is a lot of head injuries in a short time.

But were 4-1-1 in their last six after starting 0-5..... so many new people might have contributed to it , but that was a good road game after that crap saturday
It's not whether you win or lose, but if you're winning or losing.

Chaos hockey could turn out to be winning hockey, but I'm dubious.
