14th in the East and 27th overall. Most likely means they are sellers and their expendable players are at their lowest value. What exactly am I not following here?

I didn't say Huberdeau for Lewis.

I'm going to assume he means that Florida is currently just 4 points outside the playoff picture and have won 4 in a row.

Right now with how mediocre the East is everybody except Buffalo and New York are contenders to make playoffs. In the West there is many more sellers with Edmonton, Calgary, Winnipeg, Nashville all as real longshots to make playoffs.

Well, you caught me Holden. I never even thought a team four games under .500 and in the NHL's basement would be in the playoff picture. Honestly.

Yikes, I guess I don't know. But in my defense I could care a less about the Eastern Conference and the Florida Panthers.

I've become so accustomed to the Pacific.

Lewis is a bottom 6 defensive forward and pk specialist, accept what he is and what his role on the team is. You don't have to score to be useful in our system.

Oh, then he's useless because we have all of those on our team. And some scoring is what this team needs... So with all that accounted, I think the final answer is...

He's useless.

Well, many people say he isn't useless. By reversing logic, he serves a distinct use - not producing points.

Is that better?

I agree with Carcillo, as I have liked him pretty much all year. Having said that, against a club like EDM, we really don't need his tenacity do we? And it isn't as if Carcillo's going to set the world on fire with his scoring. And that's why I don't think having Lewis playing against EDM was that big of a deal.

Yeah, it's not so much Florida as it is how bad the East is. I mean just despicably awful. It we had waited one more year my other favourite team the Jets could potential be in a playoff spot right now, instead they are 10 points outside with other teams having less games played. Florida would be hard to pressed to sell at the current time just because a playoff appearance is huge for hockey in South Florida, so they cannot afford to do so at the current time with still realistic chances at playoffs.

Two options:
1. Change your avatar to a picture of Trouba and your custom title to All Hail The Trouba.
2. Lose mod powers. I'm in a position to totally do this. :sarcasm:

But yeah. The East is a joke. And my Sens suck. I can never have all my teams win. Always one weak link every year.

Confused. My avvy is the result of a lost bet, I ****ing HATE Peluso, which is why he is my avatar. The username is a joke based on avvy. And I don't know what you mean by mod "powers". First of all, how about mod "responsibilities". And I mod on both Jets and Kings forums.

Sens would be better if they admit Lehner is the better goalie. And I do think they overachieved last year. Just an average team and I think they spent too much of their promising youth the get Ryan. But they will still compete for playoffs in the awful East, as Toronto will fall right out of picture soon enough

The Panthers are 6 points out of the playoffs, aren't they ?
With the new playoff seeding system the top-3 teams from each division makes the playoffs and behind those 6 there are 2 wild card spots to the teams with the most points. As far as I can tell the Leafs are sitting in that 2nd wild card spot with 37 points right now.

At this point, it seems to me that Clifford, Fraser, Frattin, and potentially 1 goalie (my pick is Scrivens) is who we have available to move that is in our best interest at the trade deadline.

Who can we get as a decent left winger to fit in with Richards and Toffoli?

My Christmas wish is that we trade Concussion Clifford (caphit 1,075) and a pick (3rd round -14) or Matt Frattin to Florida and get Shawn Matthias (caphit 1,75 mil. per year).

Matthias is a Los Angles Kings type of player - he is a big, plays decent two-way game and has some skill, albeit is not a true top 6 -forward = Dwight King type of player. Matthias is more skilled than Dwight, but not as smart.

Matthias could be a good fit. Would rather have Kulikov though.

Just out of curiosity, who would you guys rather have in there over Lewis? Clifford? Carcillo?

I'd be down to see how Martinez does at this point. Would need the rest of the D healthy first I guess. If that doesn't work I'd rather see Nolan out there. I mean does it really matter? Can it get much worse then Lewis? Hey what about Fraser? He shoots left.

Kulikov has regressed 2 years in a row; perhaps it's due to playing on a pretty bad Florida team, but i'm skeptical.

I haven't been able to see much of him to comment, though he's still young enough to develop. Doubt they'd be interested in moving him though.

I'm skeptical of Florida players in general because their development always seems to stall and how many have gone on to find success elsewhere? Weiss is struggling in Detroit, Horton was good but not great (imho), I'm just not feeling them.
