Kulikov was brought into the NHL too early. Just because a player can hold their own, or be effective in the NHL as an 18 year old, doesn't mean they should stay with big club.

Kulikov kind of reminds me of Luke Schenn in that way.

Kulikov has regressed 2 years in a row; perhaps it's due to playing on a pretty bad Florida team, but i'm skeptical.

I think Sutter could turn that around. Plus he is only an RFA after this year so the Kings would have power in negotiations. no need to lock him up long term.

wonder if DL is interested in david perron. i think he could be on his way out by the trade deadline. hated playing against him but would be a perfect fit with richards and toffoli. hes definitely got the grit and compete to fit in here in LA.

what do you guys think?

I don't mind it but I think it'll cost too much to get him out of Edm

Fraser did great and was a perfect fit at the time. Now.....not so much. I think Linden was playing great and was a very good upgrade at the #4C spot. I look forward to his return.

I don't think many will argue against this, but the team has pretty clearly outgrown Fraser. But until he's moved, whether that's via trade, waivers, or otherwise, Vey will get to tear up the minors.

I guesstimate we'll see Vey again down the stretch and into the playoffs. I'm with you here.

What are the chance that both Williams and Stoll get re-signed? Personally, I hope JW does get re-signed, because he can excel on all three RW slots.

As for Stoll, it's a tough call because he has played much better lately (other than his boneheaded penalties) but at the same time, if we re-sign Stoll, what do we do with Vey, Weal or Shore?

Williams will most likely get resigned. Stoll, much less likely. I think one reason why Stoll is not leaving anytime soon is that he is a big locker room guy. We all want to see Vey more than Stoll, but Vey is still a rookie and we don't know how he will do when the team is in the playoffs. Hopefully by the time Stoll's contract is up, Vey will be ready to take that job full time and will have had plenty of experience in the NHL.

If we let JW walk we are not being smart. But it will also be his last under 35 contract and what would he get on the open market? Will he take a discount to stay with us? Those are the big things. I think someone would overpay to have JW on their team.
Stoll will also probably be on his last under 35 contract. His PK skill and faceoffs make him valuable to the team. And he is a good safety net if Richards or Kopi were to go down for a period of time. If we can get him in around the 2M mark we could use him as a PK and face off specialist and have him on the 4th line. That would move Vey to the 3rd line. Which would give us some very nice depth down the middle for sure.

Well put.

Personally, I want Williams to retire a king. To me, he personifies what our team is all about.

As for Stoll, it's a coin toss as far as I'm concerned. I do like the idea of having Stoll around just in case Richards goes down with another concussed injury, but at the same time, I REALLY want to see our kids get their chance.

So what is the point of having Clifford/Carcillo/Fraser in the line up? None of them seem to have the ability to step up and fill in a position other then the 4th line. Would the Kings be better off picking up a young player LW or Left handed C? There is Pearson/Nic in the AHL, but even with those 2 I'd still feel better upgrading the position. When Brown was out last game the Kings had 74/22/13/24 down the left side.... I'd rather see something like 74/23/*/13 then when/if there is an injury call up Pearson or Nic. That way the Kings don't end up with guys like Clifford/Lewis/Carcillo in the top 9. Which in my opinion kills possession time.

Portland Pirates' PBP guy reporting Linden Vey a healthy scratch tonight for the Monarchs.

Guess he's getting called up?
