Not saying I've seen it all, just 'cause I go back to Babe Parelli as their QB. You can surprise me, and while I was not astounded, I was pleasantly surprised by yesterday.

Quick ?.

It is now clear while healthy competition in the right degree (from below by Simms or better) is good, this is Smith's job and his team.

If Sanchez has a brain, regardless of how fast that arm is coming along (and if it really is [and is not merely like] a torn labrum, that is nothing to rush, so) Mark would be well advised, while on NYJ's dime, to take the operation and top medical care and compete somewhere else next year. Putting off this surgery is not a smart move --- if he wants to play and Jets/Smith won't let him, eventually he is not their responsibility under contract, and he can pay his own freakin bills.

My ? is, if there is legit 100% season ending surgery, no hope of player able to fulfill contract on medical basis, while club still has to pay his contract salary, does that mean club can do anything to get an exemption and add salary, go above team cap limit, preferably w/o penalty?

Or are we screwed til his contract runs out?

Would be nice to pick up an OL, and a defender at min.

If the Jets release Sanchez at the end of the 2013 league year, he'll count $4.8M against the 2014 cap and then nothing in subsequent years. If they cut him before the 2014 season, he'll count $1.6M on the 2014 cap and $3.2M on the 2015 cap. Neither number is particularly significant, and the Jets will have large amounts of cap space even with his dead money.

If he undergoes surgery and is out for the year, that still has no bearing on the cap situation beyond this season.

Aaaaaw yeeeaah! Won my fantasy matchup against the only other unbeaten team despite a sub-100pt week. 3-0!

Picking up Gostkowski from waivers won me the game, who drops the #1 ranked player of any position?

One year I traded Eric Gagne and Jason Giambi for Victor Martinez and I think BJ Ryan. That was Martinez's best year and it coincided with both Giambi and Gagne officially falling into the tank. Best trade I ever made in fantasy sports because Giambi and Gagne were useless while the other two were all world. I don't have many good fantasy football moments. I hate fantasy football anyway especially because of the PO's coinciding with people like Peyton forehead Manning resting

Thanks to you and Jonathan for related feedback.

Not to be exasperating, but just to be clear on detail, I did not mean necessarily that the Jets "release" Sanchez and officially disconnect him from the roster.

What I meant was, as long as we are paying the bills, and there is legit injury with obviously no hope of the player being available to fulfill his contract, is there some rare exemption [presumably in CBA] that allows you to add one or more players while using an identical amount of the injured player's salary? {Or a portion thereof?}.

So what's the roster #, 53? So could they technically have 54, with Sanchez invisible (like equivalent of PUP --- physically unable to perform)? Does a loop hole like that exist, is what I'm asking.

You would think that to give every team a chance to remain competitive and not chuck that investment in this year out the window, that a team would have at least one opportunity in these circumstances to op to do something like this without penalty.

If yes, that might mean further help can be considered this year, if available.

If not, we should just eat Sanchez by letting his contract run out. No subsequent counting of the cap by cutting him now for lesser temporary relief.

The Jets, who were ranked by ESPN 32nd (last) in their final preseason Power Ranking, are now up to 18th. Obviously these rankings mean absolutely nothing, but it's nice to see the media moving away from the whole "The Jets have a roster completely devoid of talent and will be terrible" angle that was utter ******** to begin with.

You can place a player on IR to free up a roster spot, but as far as I know there's no mechanism in place to create any additional cap space. Injured players still count on the cap. It really doesn't matter, though, as there's no one available as a free agent that would require anything over the minimum to sign (and the Jets have the cap space for that).

Sanchez's contract runs through 2016. There's no reason to not cut him after this season or before next season. You could keep him on the roster and let his contract expire, but that would actually cost the team more against the cap than if they were to cut him. It would also create an ugly, ugly situation.

He's gone after the season. It makes sense every way you look at it.

I never thought the Jets were the worst in the league. Jacksonville always was. Having said that, the Jets really haven't looked good at all and they beat two bad football teams at home. One of those games was handed to them.

And yet they sit at 2-1. No win in the NFL is easy, and "good" teams lose to "bad" teams each and every week. Are the Jets great? Far from it. And they won't approach great until their offense approaches respectable. However, they're clearly better than a 3-4 win team like many projected. The defensive talent they have will keep them in pretty much every game, and even on luck alone they're bound to bag a few more wins.

I just remember when they beat the lowly Bills last season in week one the Jets fans were screaming about how all the haters were wrong. They went on to have a terrible season.

3 games is a small sample size and the two wins were at home against bad teams. I think the play a close one against the Titans. They can win that game but eventually they're going to start playing good teams.

Bad week for me, too. I still thought I was going to win until Antonio Brown exploded for 53534 points.

I put up a 75 and won hahaha. I actually beat the other 2-0 team and he had league high points to date.

3-0, first in the league. The chick whose team I drafted for her all girl league in 3-0 also. She's first in her 14 team league.

Then I'm in the finals of baseball, this week. Seems good, right?

I'm a Bills fan
I'm a Rangers fan

therein lies the rub ;)

The Giants signed the terminator, and put Hynoski on IR.

Should help Eli blocking in the backfield, at the very least :dunno:

The @Giants have signed FB John Conner and placed Henry Hynoski on injured reserve: http://www.giants.com/news-and-blog...r-signed/436842b1-55b0-487e-a299-abd51174cb75

Hynoski is one of my favorite Giants, so this news is disheartening to me. Hope he can recover and continue his NFL career.

In fantasy, I was just offered Adrian Peterson and Matt Schaub for Darren Sproles and Russell Wilson. I obviously accepted the trade. Am I missing something, or did I just rob this guy?

Get rid of Sanchez and his stupid hair thing. That green thing. Tampa Bay should have taken Sanchez as part of the Revis trade. TB benched Freeman and are going with Mike Glennon of NC State. The Jets liked Glennon in the draft. The Jets brass also like Freeman in the draft instead of Sanchez but Rex wanted Sanchez. Revis's uncle Sean Gilbert wrote a book called The $29M Tip. Gilbert played for the Rams and Skins. This guy was the king of the holdout. Revis learned from him. Derek Stepan must have been given an advanced copy.

Unless your league awards like.... 5 points per reception, then yes, you did.

Its all because of Rex and his big mouth..Nobody likes him and in the very near past he was a gasbag..His act got tired fast and people want to see him fail...As far as the talent angle goes you guys went into the seaon with bad WR'S and basically no QB so your ranking was close to what it should have been..Geno is a breath of fresh air for that franchise

Glennon is not a long term option, IMO. They will be going QB at the top of the draft.
