How many times does this need to be said?

Callahan was crap last season. His '12 and '13 playoffs were crap also.

People here have really lowered their expectations. And I don't blame them, for the past 2 seasons nearly every single forward on our team has fallen short of expectations.

31 points in 45 games is crap? That's above average production. Not Elite, but above average, which is why Cally won't get much more than 5 Million. For him to leave would really put a hole in this team because of what he does on both sides of the ice.

Time to let him walk if this is how it's going to be. Can't tie up $5-6 million in cap space for a guy who spends half the season on IR and is inconsistent when he does play. I can't even say that he brings needed intangibles anymore because with the way he's playing this season he's a pretty bad player, he's not even playing hard anymore

You need to step outside of the small box that is just the last couple months of hockey. Look at the totality of his play. Is he having a bad season? Sure. I am not sure how you guys can jump ship on a guy like Callahan so damn fast. This guy is a warrior. Is it really frusterating to see him constantly injured this season? Yes it is...but have some perspective. For example, look at Richards, losing a training camp can completely alter a players season. IMO, he will not command more than $5m per season after what we have seen so far in 2013-2014. I would sign him at 5/25 all day.

He's certainly not doing anything on any side of the ice lately

:handclap::handclap::handclap:

Our fanbase is too "what have you done for me lately". You can't ignore the Callahan's full body of work.

Is it worrisome that he gets injured a lot and he plays a physical game that lends itself to getting banged up? Of course. But let's not point to 25 games of bad play and pretend like that's the norm. Every player goes through bad stretches.

Sorry, but in sports you can't pay for past production. Projecting how a player will perform in the future is more important than what he did for you in the past. That's why teams always get burned with free agents who they sign to big contracts based on their past.

A bit of humor for you all today, evidently Brassard fell on his ass and has a "sore posterior" per the team.

His point totals were fine.

Callahan hasn't been the shot blocking spark-plug that got him to where he is since 2011.

And I don't care what the hit totals suggest, I haven't seen Callahan make an impactful hit in ages.

I feel like I was ****** in the *** with a ******** operated by a ****** watching the game last night, so I can understand how Brassard feels.

@AGrossRecord: Vigneault said he began internal conversations with #NYR brass this morning about a possible Hartford (AHL) call-up. Nothing decided yet.

Because of Cally, or another attempt to improve our play?

Gross also said Brassard is fine, will play tomorrow, AV told him.

Maybe they will scratch Sather and call-up someone to be GM.

Those lines were scary looking.

Chris Kreider, Derek Stepan, Mats Zuccarello
Taylor Pyatt, Brad Richards, Rick Nash
Carl Hagelin, Brian Boyle, Derek Dorsett
Benoit Pouliot, Dominic Moore, Arron Asham

Even if Pyatt is in Brassard's spot, that's a cringe-worthy lineup.:help:
