The Christmas break begins next Monday. The Rangers have five games in nine nights starting tomorrow. Staal hasn't skated yet. Usually the player skates by himself and then with the team in no contact and contact practices. Staal could be back around the New Year if there are no setbacks.

Updated the title. Brassard in tonight. Callahan still resting. Staal working out off ice.

Seems like Staal will be back soon. Good to hear. In case anyone didn't notice, the team truly fell apart when Staal got hurt. One win since he went down.

Good thing they were 25-0 with him or they'd be in big trouble. :sarcasm:

Hey, I'm just sayin'. Coming from a guy who was bashing Staal incessantly before his injury.

Him coming back and making us a .500 team again may be a bad thing in the long run.

My observation is that Staal's eye injury has ended his career. He just doesn't know it yet.

Staal returning allows the Rangers to trade him. A decision will need to made on him too. He is 18 months away from becoming a group III.

Doubt he has much value at this point. He's on a pretty cheap contract, I'd rather keep him and see if he can bounce back.

Yeah at this point I think it's just best to hold onto him and hope he can become the player he once was. Can't see anyone giving us what we think Staal is worth when the guy has had two concussions in two years, a serious eye injury, and a season thus far that hasn't been up to the expectations that we have for him.
