I've notice Dov scratched before when not starting. I'm guessing it has something to do with the AHL rules for dressing veterans. A team can only dress a certain number of veterans (determined by number of professional games played) per game, although they can have more on the roster. The Pack have a lot of veterans. Now that I think about it, that could be the reason for the Mashinter/Beach deal. Mashinter is two years older than Beach and has played more pro seasons. Maybe Mash reached the games played cutoff and the Pack needed to dump a vet so they could fit an experienced goalie onto the roster.

They could have dumped Brodie Dupont who is on an PTO... I always thought goalies are exempt from the veteran rule.

Either way Missiaen is playing himself out of pro hockey, and Stajcer isn't too far behind... Virtually no goalies behind Lundqvist and Talbot.. scary. One of the areas this organisation has totally neglected and this season the WP has to pay for this...

They did think talbot in ct and biron in ny

Not sure if they kept Biron in NYR to make Hank happy lol

Biron was already done last year and everyone knew it... Oh well. Too bad they couldn't secure a guy lile McElhinney oder LaBarbera for Hartford who could be called up when needed and step. Its not like we have a bonafide goalie prospect that needs to play top minutes in the AHL, so they might as well have signed a solid 3rd vet goalie.

one reason Sather and the Rangers should try to make a trade with a team that has goalie depth like the Kings or the Ducks... let's hope Rangers management tries to fix this instead of drafting a goalie that does not have much potential.

Just sign Dov as our #3. He will do just fine. If Lundqvist or Talbot are injured long term, they either need to acquire someone then.

Right now, the best way to find a goalie prospect imo unless drafting high is signing college free agents or undrafted junior players/European goalies. Right now Europe has the best goalie prospects. You can find these players. Just have to look in the right places. Not many top draft goalies make it big.

Funny because 20 years ago it was said that Europe can't produce goalies. When Hasek became the best goalie in the league, he was seen as an abnormal freak of nature more than anything else because his style was so unorthodox.

Today nobody bats an eye that Lundqvist is European.

That was across the board. Look how many Canadian goalies are good? Then look at the European teams. Finland is a goalie factory.

Agree. Rangers should stop drafting NA goalies in later rounds and focus on Finns and Swedes. Nashville's Finnish goalie prospect was awesome in the WJC's. Hop on the Scandinavian goalie bandwagon.

Wow, nothing going at all for the WP, already down 2-0 and a whopping 2 shots on goal with a couple of mins left in the first period. They blow bad... And Missiaen is flopping around all the time, stop it!

I'll never understand why the organization continues to give Missiaen any starts. He's ****ing terrible. Literally worthless. Stajcer, at least, has some talent.

Hes only 23... most people had given up that Talbot would be any good, and look at him now

Talbot was 23 when the Rangers signed him. Had people given up on him before we had signed him? If anyone had "given up on" Talbot at any point, it was because they didn't pay attention to Hartford's games. I do pay attention to them.

I was always very high on Talbot. He was a terrific goalie in college and has been consistently good in the AHL. If you go back and look at old prospect polls, I was always voting for him earlier than most. Missiaen hasn't been particularly good at any level. He's a decent ECHL goalie that has sucked in the AHL. Have you watched many Hartford games this year? Because he's ****ing awful.

I would hope we don't qualify him at the end of the season, and that will be the end of him.

Malcolm's been picking up late down in Greensville after a poor start. Picked up two wins this weekend.

At this age, Talbot had 2.84GAA and .902%. He also had played tremendous hockey for Alabama. He also showed huge improvement every single season of his career.

Miss started as a disaster and continued to be one. This season he just fell apart. His SV% is just above .850 and almost 4 goals against average.

When Talbot managed to stop giving up regular and often-occuring WTF goals, he was NY bound.

How can they expect Missiaen and Stajcer to play decent in the AHL when they could barely win in the ECHL, let alone be solid. Mismanagement at its finest...
Read on twitter Dov GM is with his wife who is giving birth. Hopefully he's back soon.

FWIW, syvert and johnson stink... Considering their strong AHL resumes, they've mailed it in this season.

Pack signed Justin Vaive to a PTO and called him up from Greenville. Rick's son is a big kid (6'4" 210lbs) and is on a hot streak: 10G8A in 13GP this season.
