I don't think they didn't try first 40 mins tonight. I just think they sucked. There will be plenty of periods where we suck.

I love the fact Quinn preaches hard work and is willing to bench anyone that doesn't play hard. Think Buch.

Yea, I agree with this. It's pretty hard for anyone to argue that they aren't trying. It's just, they're not that talented so there are likely to be spurts in almost every game where they are outplayed for significant chunks of time. I can't really say that I've watched one game this year where I felt the effort wasn't there. It was frustrating as hell to watch them last night because they were trying and just couldn't break through, although I did feel they adapted and got better as the game went on.

AV's teams so often got outplayed because of their effort level. I think it can be hard for us to tell the difference when now we're getting outplayed because we're just not that good.

lol it wasn't really a serious comment, more of a jab at Joe.

But yeah, that game was not ok.

All summer I was crucified for saying tanking was gonna suck. Now I'm crucified for being the only one upset about a bad win. What are we doing here? A little consistency would be great,.
I would consider it a bad win if Smith and McLeod got the goals. But it was two of the kids. They need to know they can contribute to wins at this level.

I paid a lot of attention to advanced analytics the last few seasons largely because I felt it was a good harbinger for success. It's not that I don't think that his year as well, but I find it pretty irrelevant considering out situation.

Yet, one thing I have consistently observed is those who harp on such statistics are almost always negative even when much good can be taken from games.

How can people complain about yesterday's game? We won, against a team who has quite a lot of success and our two goals were scored by future core pieces, Chytil and Howden. This is the kind of thing I would love to see all year. I don't even care about the wins or losses, but yesterday had a lot of things I'm looking for in what I have chalked up to a non-competitive season.

I think people need to just enjoy this season for what it is and go for the ride wherever it takes them. Again, I really believe in analytics and would love if the organization hired people who made decisions largely based on that info, however, it's rather frustrating that people on here who put all their stock into them have forgotten what it means to even enjoy hockey for what it is, a game.

We've seen this movie before with this team winning games they have no business winning.

It's fun winning and nobody wants to dissect it, I get that. Nobody wanted this team to win over the summer more than I did, everyone forgets that.

But if they're going to steal games, they might as well lose. If Vancouver didn't hit every post in the tri-state area, they're down 4-1 in this game.

I used this gif last season and got my post removed! I think it was in reference to hitting the goalposts though.

I just don't want to re-establish the same culture we had from 2012-2017 of #FindingAWay.

It was fun and it had it's time. I want the finished product to be dominating, not finding a way.

I don't want our young players to see that being outplayed is rewarded as long as you try hard. Although, I do have hope that Quinn isn't accepting this. He has high expectations which I like.

The "finished product" isnt automatically good enough to kick teams teeth in.

The "finished product" goes through the process of learning how to win games they should lose.

There is a whole alphabet to get through when you go from A to Z

I got your tank right here!
Seriously, I don't expect this to continue. How many years did we watch our good teams roll into a game they should have won and come up short. Teams underestimate teams all the time. If this continues, we aren't going to catch teams unaware for long. Enjoy it while it lasts.

This game will go down in history as the one and only game Ryan Spooner started and NHL game on the first line! The NHL historians will pen articles that start

“Between the hours of 705pm till 805pm on 11/12/18, Ryan Spooner was an NHL first liner! During this stint, he was revealed to have no skills even remotely close to first line NHL skills and was, shortly thereafter, demoted back to his much more suitable 4th line.”

Last night was the kind of game that it seems the Rangers will win, other team controls play, Rangers captitalkze on limited chances, Hank plays well and we scratch out a win.

Machinehead is a professor, right?

Does he tell his students that they better get perfect scores on his exams, or they better not show up?

That's what he seems to be expecting from the Rangers.

this is a fun team to watch. they are a likable bunch for sure. i find myself mostly entertained and certainly smiling when they find a way to win games.

new coach. new attitude. the effort and that no quit thing seems legit. not the most talented team for sure but there is talent and for a change, they seem to really care. we have kids that can actually play and produce and the grey beard goalie who still has plenty left in the tank.

as much as i want jack hughes on draft day, something inside me is saying this team might be pretty decent next year with some promotions, trades and a spectacular 2019 draft.

things look ok maybe....

Have you seen what goes on at Universities lately? :sarcasm:

Really good to see Chytil and Howden do well last night. Also nice to see Chytil get bumped up to line 1 after he scored. Hopefully Quinn keeps him there now. Spooner does absolutely nothing for me and the sooner he's off the team the better. He does nothing unless he's putting up points and it's been mentioned before but he's the definition of square peg round hole on this team.

For pro tank crowd, good news is that the Rangers still aren't far from the bottom. Only 5 points separate them and the 3rd worst record in the league and a lot of those teams between them have games in hand. Not to mention the Rangers are getting killed in the ROW column due to all the shootout wins. New Jersey is 7 points behind NYR with the 2nd worst record but have 3 games in hand. LA is kind of distant with how bad they've played. Still plenty of time for the tank. I hope it doesn't start Thursday though because I'm sick and tired of losing to that f***ing team in Brooklyn/Long Island/wherever they play now.

They most certainly did not.

"Found a way to win a different type of game."

Joe has interesting ways to describe getting outshot 3:1.

That is an inexperienced team for you. Win games they should lose and lose games they should win.

I'm okay with it too, winning despite getting despite being outshot/outplayed. It teaches the youngsters that anything is possible. No matter how much you are getting your teeth kicked in, a win is always possible.

If they are still having these issues when they are trying to be a contending team then I will absolutely be concerned. But for now, :dunno:

One more thing, when you say outshot 3:1 - are you talking about shot attempts?

I don't know what the point of that tweet is. Wouldn't that support people's belief in tanking since they wound up picking 9th last year?
The whole point of the tweet is to tell RB to chill out about the standings in NOVEMBER and act like we're 100% going to be picking mid/low 1st in June.

No one should be taking the standings seriously until we hit like...game 41.
