Fair enough. I don't want the team to develop a losing culture.
I'm with you on that. I want the same thing, really.

I don't want them to develop a culture where it's ok to disappear for 40 minutes, it's ok to get outchanced, and it's ok to rely on the goaltender as long as we try real hard and find a way.

That's just a veiled losing culture.

Honestly, I want them to learn that you f***ing lose when you play like they just played.

Not at all. Who said that?

I'm talking about not being buyers and re-shaping the culture of this team. Isn't that what the letter was all about?
No one said it. I wasn’t being facetious. I legitimately asked the question. My apologies if it came across that way.

I doubt we will be buyers. I firmly believe we will hold down the fort and continue with the rebuild.

You're stretching. No one here has said we're buying unless they were being facetious.

It's not really about buying.

I want the front office and coaching staff to understand that this team hasn't really played well enough to be 9-7-2.

That's the glass half empty view. Now think about when they kick it into gear when they are struggling now by your standard yet still winning

Maybe Quinn does. But he sure ain't gonna tell.

I don't think they didn't try first 40 mins tonight. I just think they sucked. There will be plenty of periods where we suck.

I love the fact Quinn preaches hard work and is willing to bench anyone that doesn't play hard. Think Buch.

No, I agree that they just sucked.

But whatever the issue was, the game started at 7, and the Rangers started playing at 9.

I just want it to be clear to our young core that that's not acceptable.

And yes, it will happen. It'll happen to the best team in the league.

But this is the third game in a row it happened and they took 5 of 6 points. It's on Quinn now to let them know it wasn't good enough regardless of the result.

That said, I really like Quinn so far and I have a lot of hope that he's sending that message.

We all know that the reality of what you said, is for the better. Just cannot root for this team to lose. If you do, then WHY bother watching? Otherwise, root for them to win, and hopefully be disappointed a helluva lot more than we have been lately. Not liking the taste every game. Once in a while would be fine. Lol.

Those two points

Hey, I just got off the phone with Rick Nash. He said he was doing great. He told me that he'd be willing to come back Mike Fisher-style for a run come April. We don't have to be buyers!

Is lettieri not considered a rookie? Did he play too many games last year?

Counted him in the rookie forward group - Howden, Chytil, Andersson, Lettieri.

Likewise I consider Pionk a rookie and ADA a sophomore.

Georgiev rounds out the rookie brigade.

Good bye to Huuuughes
Good bye to our last chance... to choooose
Our team is just too good.
And it seems we just cant win the lotto

Well...you will get to tell your grand kids you beat the Nucks in regulation in November in 2018.

You won't recall it very well, and they won't care very much, but you will get to tell them.

I don't want our next core of players finding a way. I want them kicking teams' teeth in.
What team was ever so much better than the rest of the league and just won everything convincingly?
Like, after the Gretzky Oilers. It’s a silly thing to hope for, let alone moan about not having.
Every team in the league, 30 other teams, are trying to do the exact same thing with the essentially the same resources.
So, personally, if the Rangers can
“find a way to win”, that’s good.
Winning ugly, winning in a dog fight, is a good skill.
Not to mention there’s legit skill flashing more and more, game by game. It’s really encouraging.
Sure, the team isn’t truly a contender now but there are parts of a contending team on this roster already and they’re growing and gelling and learning how to win.

That's pretty much your typical game though. Every game has its ebbs and flows. What seems to be missing is that the other team gets paid to do stuff too. The other team is trying too.
Yes! The league is full of great talented players. There are so many factors that go into winning. Getting high picks is certainly good and important. But - as in life - it’s complicated.
I see lots of positive now. I don’t think the team is dominant or even a playoff team. But the wins haven’t been mirages either. The rangers players are - marginally/on balance - outplaying opponents. That might change but right now they’re looking good.
I think the Rangers are on the upswing.
