I want our results to be commensurate with how we're playing. We tried being the team that steals games. We got a fun few years out of it, but it fell short. I don't want to re-establish that same culture.

We can have our kids play well and still suck, as evidenced by the fact that they're playing well and this team sucks.
Patience. We're not even 20 games in. It's going to take time.

It's up to the coaching and front office to see through it and continue with the plan.

That’s such an important thing to note when looking at this team — it is very young.

Right now, on a given night we’re talking about 4 rookie forwards.

On defense, we’re looking at what is essentially one rookie and one sophomore player.

In goal, we have a rookie backup.

This team has 6 skaters who haven’t played 100 NHL games, more than half of whom haven’t even played that many games at any pro level.

That’s not something we can just look past.
Is lettieri not considered a rookie? Did he play too many games last year?

Problem is we are gonna have to play like real dog **** for the entire season to even get a chance at the next Crosby or Ovechkin (if Hughes or Lafreniere are those guys???). I mean real bad. That means guys like Chytil, Howden and even guys like Zibby not playing well. It would be nice to see all these young guys put up points, flourish and at the same time get low enough to win the lottery. Not sure it works like that
Yeah I've been echoing this the last couple of days

Nice for Chytil to get the monkey off his back. Hopefully Quinn keeps him with Zibanejad and Names. Playing wing on a line with two good players >>> playing center with McLeod and Lettieri. Not to mention Spooner has done absolutely nothing to warrant anything other than limited 4th line minutes.
Agreed but By the way that is one bad 4th line ...lol. Just a mish mash of mostly bad parts but I'm cool with that if Chytil gets more time in the top 6 instead of spooner.

Nobody should be expecting this team to dominate games. The fact that they are tied for first in points is remarkable. The kids are learning how to play in the NHL and it's going to take time and there are going to be plenty of bumps along the way. I am amazed that after 18 games there were only 2 or 3 that were truly bad. You need patience which you clearly don't possess. They are on the right track and will still be sellers this year and will probably have 2 or maybe 3 first rounders again. There is no doubt in my mind that this team is going to be very, very good in a few years. For now I am enjoying their compete level and the points they are accumulating. The future is bright.
We don't even have Hajek and Lindgren up here yet. And Rykov and Kravtsov haven't even jumped over the pond

Good game, You played a good physical game. Should have at least let Canucks get a OT point with Vancouver hitting a post and double post.

Howden 1 Pettersson 0
see you March.13

One thing I hope we can all agree on in just over a year we have added more legitimate prospects than we could ever imagine after trading first round picks like candy. Just look at the prospect pool before the 2017 draft lol.

Exactly. Hajek. Lindgren, Rykov, Kravstov, Miller, Shesty, added to the kids already on Rangers plus more picks and possible prospects this year and it makes for a very promising future for this team.

This is the first time in many years I can say almost every Ranger is meeting or exceeding my optimistic expectations for the season.

Exceeding:

Howden
Vesey
DeAngelo
Pionk

Meeting:

Zibanejad
Kreider
Zuccarello
Hayes
Buchnevich
Fast
Chytil
Staal
Smith
Claesson
McQuaid
Namestnikov (recently)
Lettieri (didn’t expect much)
McLeod (didn’t expect much)
Andersson (great in AHL, jury out NHL)

Not Meeting:

Shattenkirk (needs to step up production)
Spooner (needs to step up production)

Overall, I’m a happy camper.

I find the players to be extremely likable.

Lately, however, the results are trending towards another early playoff exit. What does that do for this franchise?

If you can't play well enough to win games when it matters, just lose.

But as I predicted, people get a taste of that two points and all the long-term plans are out the window.
We all know that the reality of what you said, is for the better. Just cannot root for this team to lose. If you do, then WHY bother watching? Otherwise, root for them to win, and hopefully be disappointed a helluva lot more than we have been lately. Not liking the taste every game. Once in a while would be fine. Lol.

He's not super flashy but he could be in that exceeding category. I really liked him in the playoffs in 2017. He can become something for sure or even bring back some assets at the tdl. looking like a terrific signing.

Even shattenkirk was pretty good tonight

It's just entertainment - at least for me. If we were 0-18 right now, but the kids were improving and we were mostly losing games by 1 goal and the team was playing hard, I'd be fine. If we're winning too much to have a chance at Hughes/Kakko et al and the kids are improving and the team is playing hard, I'm fine too. The only time I'm not happy with the team is when they're clearly phoning it in. If they're playing hard, the wins and losses don't matter that much, because it's still entertaining to watch, which for me, is the entire point.
Can i double like this post?

Yeah, it's a very bad 4th line lol but if Quinn is only going to give them 6-9 minutes a night anyway then he might as well have Spooner down there instead of Chytil.

At the moment all we can do is steal games. We don't have the talent to compete with good teams.

What plan is that?

A brand new coach is going to sacrifice his job and tank?

Lettieri is a rookie. Isn't 26 or older, didn't play 25 games last year, didn't play at least 6 games in any of two preceding years because he's only in his 2nd season now anyway.
