Scoring correction will give him a 41st goal from last night. Tipped the shot from Owen Pickering on the Broncos first goal.
If we've drafted a forward out of the CHL with a more impressive goal scoring D+1 in the CHL than Filmon in the last 20 years, I can't find them.
Mercer might be the only forward with a more impressive overall statistical profile, Filmon has six more points than Henrique did in the same number of games.
Zacha, McLeod, Bastian, Foote (not our pick, but our prospect) etc. all fell far short of what Filmon has done. I'm at the point where I'm expecting Filmon to be a productive NHL forward.
This is amazing.
He who shall not be named (Reid Boucher). Granted that was D+2 but that's probably the closest thing.
And of course Filmon has a very goal heavy split. Filmon with 43 in 56. Rico had 30 in 56.If we've drafted a forward out of the CHL with a more impressive goal scoring D+1 in the CHL than Filmon in the last 20 years, I can't find them.

Henrique was also on a stacked team, which does limit his offensive opportunities, but he was 4th in goals and 7th in points. Filmon leads his team in points, and nearly doubles the next closest guy in terms of goals.
Now Rico was likely more well rounded, but given the makeup of the NHL team I'm 100% fine with a goal scoring winger. There is also some concern in terms of sustainability in regards to Filmon's scoring rate, but the kid has been very consistent all year. He did have a bit of a lull, but has now blasted through it. Will he keep this rate up next year? Maybe not, but I'm pretty confident he will still produce at a good rate(the team will be pretty mature as a group). Would also help his assist totals if Mathew Ward wasn't shooting muffins(10% shooting this year).
One of the goals. Couldn’t find the other one.

Boucher was also drafted as an overager. His big season was his D+3.
Knowing where to stand to receive a pass already makes him better than half our forwards.Feel like we've seen a fair amount of back door burials. So maybe not shot creation, but he's getting to the right spots and finishing these chances at an excellent rate.
I do think scoring is up in junior as compared to those eras but I don't think that really diminishes what Filmon's doing.
I expect him to be around the same number of goals next year or even a little less - he is shooting well over 20% this year and while shooting percentages are up, this one's not sustainable over 100 games I don't think.
Boucher was almost as young as a player can be when he was picked - he was not an overage selection.
How much weight do you think he is going to put on ? Shakir had a similar issue and gained almost 20 lbs in 2 years. How exactly does someone like Filmon gain some weight and become a "power forward" when is most likely a sniper/finisher. ?for filmon the age isn't the issue, he's a big boy but all skin and bones right now, if he fills out and keeps this scoring touch he can be a real good power forward for us
I remember reading he hit a late and large growth spurt, apparently common in his family, and the rest of his family ended up outgrowing being a string bean. How much weight do you think he is going to put on ? Well of course it is. How often does an NFL team play a MLB team. What are they playing by the way? I presume the choice of sport will determine who actually wins.I have seen Filmon play twice in person now. He is a lanky bugger.
I have tried to watch Pats game vs. Tigers here but impossible to get a ticket.
His height and weight is listed on sites anywhere from 6 foot 1 to 6 foot 3. His weight on pretty much all the sites is about 160lbs. If he puts on 30 lbs which is somewhat reasonable than he could be let's say 6 foot 2/3 & 190lbs. That's pretty good size but compared to Meier who is 6 foot 1 & 220 lbs , that is still a 30 lbs difference... There are alot of players who aren't necessarily big but they like to hit and play a physical game. The thing is there isn't really many "Power forwards" anymore and Filmon does not scream power forward to me at all. There aren't many of those types of players anymore. If Filmon can get up to 190 lbs than I'll be pretty happy. He should have size that won't hold him back. The other parts of his game loom pretty promising , especially his ability to find soft spots on the ice to score goals.I remember reading he hit a late and large growth spurt, apparently common in his family, and the rest of his family ended up outgrowing being a string bean.
So if I was guessing I bet he ends up around 190-210 over the next 3-4 years depending on where his skating ends up and the role he is able to shoot for.
44th of the year
