Does anyone know the rules on him joining the Devils following the season? When I watch him play, I truly believe he could provide an offensive spark to the bottom 6 immediately. This would be a cheap option down the stretch that allows NJ to focus on size at the trade deadline.

Not sure what would prevent it, seems similar to NCAA guys that sign their ELCs at the end of their college seasons. On the other hand the league is pretty weird about European leagues so it wouldn’t surprise me if there is some capricious restriction in place.

IIRC Gusev was eligible to play for the Knights in the 2019 playoffs. Same situation

Is this good? Honestly asking
Gritsyuk has 28 points in 48 games this season as 21yo player. He has very slow start, but now he has 18 points in the last 19 games.
Gritsyuk has 28 points in 39 geams previous season as 20yo player.

Marchenko has 28 points in 41 games as 20 yo player.
He has 20 points in 39 games as 21 yo player.

Kuzmenko has 25 points in 45 games as 21 yo player.
He has 15 points in 34 games as 20 yo.

Khusnutdinov has 27 points in 47 games as 20 yo player.

For example guys like Soschnikov and Prokhorkin didn`t built NHL career, so it`s not guarantee.
But it is clearly good result.

He doesn`t have new KHL deal still. So may be he will decide to make a try. And I think if he will gain some success or will not look far away from roster, he can try to stay. If he and team will understand that he needs time to mature, he can go the path Shakir made - sign and play one-two more year in KHL. Because if he is really ready for NHL - AHL is a weak competition for him. We can see how quite similar player Holtz(both are shoot oriented, Gritsyuk is better skater, Holtz is better passer, Holtz is better positionally in offensive zone, Gritsyuk is better in neuteral zone. I`m not telling that one or another is better but we can see how Holtz isn`t ready for NHL, but he will not find something interesting and chellenging in AHL - That`s I`m talking about, not about who better\worser). If he is close or ready - sign and adapt for NA style of game. If he will sign one-two more years in KHL - nothing really bad for Devils organisation - he will work on his game more, Devils will got more mature and skilled player right before play off for nothing. In any case we can find our own good sides.

I hope he will try himself in NHL this spring. And it`s easier to understand what he should actully do with his development after.

I kind of like what Mukh did. Come play in the AHL playoffs and then go play back in the KHL. A couple of stints for Gritsyuk like that to adapt him to the North American game might be helpful. The cooperation with the KHL team is good as well. Mukh has an NHL contract but is still given good minutes and a chance to develop by his KHL club.

Oh baby, he’s hearing up. Petition to change his name to GritsYUM.

We've had this discussion. I've explained to @Guadana that he needs to talk to Grisyuk about his preferred nickname when he eventually makes his way over to North America. I mean, it can range anyway from Grits to Yuk. A non-native English speaker might not be sure of the difference. I've always advocated for Grits so that when he plays with Jack and Bratt it can be the Shrimp and Grits line. Until you've eaten Shrimp and Grits in New Orleans you haven't lived.

Shrimp and grits is too amazing to not be a thing.

when does the KHL season end usually? Gotta get this kid signed

Looks like the KHL playoffs begin in early March, so it might depend on how quickly Omsk gets eliminated. This was the snippet when Vegas signed Gusev (April 14) in 2019:

He was released from his contract this week after SKA St. Petersburg was eliminated in the KHL conference finals.

Washington was able to add Evgeni Kuznetsov in March 2014 since his KHL team didn't qualify for the playoffs. Omsk should qualify comfortably if I'm reading the standings correctly.

When Luke, Mukhamadullin, and Gritsyuk show up at the same time to be black aces.....
