Told that Bost, Tor, Fla, Ott have expressed at least preliminary interest in Redden...

Like I mentioned earlier, I will definitely not mind Wade Redden. He is a strong leader. His game might not be where it once was but I'm sure, judging from his character, that he wont take the opportunity to play in the NHL again for granted, and subsequently, prove himself to be valuable as a reliable two-way D-man.

We have a plethora of youngsters coming up and he could be a good role model for a lot of them.

Phaneuf - Gunnarson
Redden - Gardiner/Franson
Liles - Komisarek
Holzer

I think he'll pick between Ottawa and Boston when all is said and done.

Ottawa was his longtime home in the NHL and I don't think it was an ugly break up when he chose to leave and sign with New York. With Boston comes the familiarity with Chiarelli as he was in Ottawa's management group while Redden played with the Sens.

Toronto would most likely be a secondary option if things don't materialize with Ottawa or Boston.

How many years left on his contract?

I'd send back Komi the other way if we're trading .. Get the Rags to add like a 3rd rounder or something for taking on the extra salary/term

Redden would sure as hell be more useful than Komi currently is

Have it on good authority that the Senators do not have any intention of signing Wade Redden at this point -- despite his history here.

And for what it's worth

Updated story: As many as 5 teams have already shown preliminary interest in Gomez, all in the West (so far)...

Who knows what's true.

Gomez would be perfect for the Yotes, they were looking to acquire a #2C.

Sucks for us though, was hoping we could ship Lombardi over there for a pick :dunno:

Well apparently Lombardi practiced with some of the Yotes players during the lockout and has good chemistry with some of them so it could still happen. We obviously can't expect too great of a return though.

I think Nonis is holding on to Lombardi to see if he will need depth centers this year. I think there is truth to the Bozak for Luongo rumours and that if they do acquire Lu, Bozak is part of the deal. That may be what is holding up a deal for Lombardi.

I heard a clip this morning from a Kessel interview about losing Bozak this year. He was talking about it as though he thinks he's gone. Said it will be sad, hes a friend and will be missed but it's part of the game..etc, etc...

Redden would be an interesting reclamation project.

Would there be too much bad blood from his Ottawa days? I would think not.

Wouldn't mind having him at the right price.

Tambelini didn't do much to try to improve the team, or convince many people the team is getting better, other than hoping for the luck of the draft to fall in their favour. Not to mention, even with a collective group of skilled players, does not assure itself of a cup winner.

Doesn't assure it but does improve our chances. I see Isles last but who knows. Top 5 is insane and could get us a star for cheap.

Luck of the draft? If you finish last you still get a top 2 pick.

If we finish bottom 4 this year, you won't be sorry.

I'm not fully cheering for us to lose but I wouldn't mind either.

Nate or Drouin would be fine with me :yo:

Is there not a new lottery weighting system in this new CBA?

redden could be a nice project. if he doesn't do well stick him in the AHL where we might need him with our young boys, if he does well good depth in the back end.

2 goals on the 2nd line isn't exactly good. If they're looking for a 2C, they may want to keep looking.

he's not a goal scorer and never was I never understood why so many people harp on this he's clearly a pass first player. even in his prime he was a 40-50 assist player 10-18 goal scorer. minus one 30 goal season I don't think he put up another 20 goal season. his assist totals are what matter, and yes they were poor aswell but talk about that not goals. thats not Gomez's game and never has been.

Why are there posters who want/support a tanked season, when Nonis clearly said he has no interest in losing at all?

IMO nonis makes no big moves at all hes not that type of guy, if he really wanted to win that bad. Luongo would of been a leaf by now. hes going to go in rebuild direction but not from scratch. My guess is that they target Forward talent in this years draft. This team needs a star youngster to get over the hump. and with the way this years draft lines up. with a couple of first rounders you possibly could get a couple. I think nonis stands pat.

and if were teetering at the bottom come deadline, he sells some players for picks. and hits the ground running at the draft. You will probably see more activity from nonis then rather than now. Makes too much sense not to work out that way with the type of manager nonis is. and to be honest, thats what i would do. Toronto needs to repair its image not only to fans but more importantly to the players in the league. Talent doesnt want to play here right now and thats a big issue.

He is just flat-out dumb.... a lot. Bad pinches, free wheeling, etc. His problem is that he doesn't seem to keep defense in mind. He's like..... a wild animal. He goes for the gusto when he's looking for prey, without thinking at all of the consequences of his actions.

I think Brodin is going to be a beauty. He brings the offensive game, with a smart, responsible aspect that Dumba lacks. I'm not worried about Brodin not being the most physical guy.

Ok you drew me out of my paperwork at work.

Only thing I'd like to say is, the bolded sounds like your boy Blacker x10 where you had him as a better prospect than Finn.

Dumba will be fine, actually he has toned down his game, perhaps too much.

What about tht isn't true? He has less than adequate hockey sense, and there really isn't much arguing that.

The guy looks like McCabe 2.0. He can hit, he can shoot, and he can skate, but there isn't a heck of a lot going on between the ears.

Grant Sonnier disagrees with your assessment, but then again you once told me Jesse Blacker had good hockey sense. lol

"This kid annihilates people. He's one of those low-center-of-gravity kids that finds a way to go through people," said Grant Sonier, a longtime scout who writes for ESPN.com and who compares Dumba to the Kings' Drew Doughty -- coincidentally, Dumba's idol.

No one has ever accused Drew Doughty of having bad hockey sense.

Other quotes:

"He's a game-changer," said Peter Loubardias, a Canadian TV analyst who scouts for Red Deer. "He can do it all, and at the end of the day, you've got a passionate, caring, want-to-be-the-best, wants-to-win-at-all-costs guy. He's got a heart as big as a bathtub."

"It's hard to find skilled right-shot defensemen, and to find somebody that shoots the puck that hard, skates that well and has a physical edge, it's a rare package," Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher said.
