What are you insinuating ?
That Lehners play and stats are because he has the best team in the league in front of him.

There really aren't any great goalie prospects right now. I'm not counting Holtby either considering he's probably gonna be the starter for Washington this season.
Markstrom, Lehner, Hackett, Vasilevski, Campbell, etc. etc. have some promise, but I'm not sure either of them will reach an elite level...There isn't a goalie prospect right now that is a step up from the others, someone that can be the face of goalie prospects in the NHL. Maybe Markstrom.
I remember last season it took him a while to get going but he was skating really really well in the game against Nashville before he got hurt.
I think Lombardi can surprise but I don't want him on the top 2 lines. If Nonis can make space for him on the lower lines then he can add the element of speed and offense from the bottom six.
Something has to give, though. There simply isn't enough room for Connolly, Lombardi, Frattin, Kadri, Komarov, Brown, McClement.
Lupul - Kadri - Kessel
JVR - Grabo - McArthur
Kulemin - Bozak - Connolly
Komarov - McClement - Steckel/Lombardi
I'm hoping for these lines. This means no space for Frattin and Brown at the moment.
Something absolutely has to give here.
That trade only makes sense for the Leafs.

I had this thought last night, if Kessel does not want to re-sign with us by the deadline.
Kessel and Gardiner to Minnesota for Granlund, Dumba, Heatley, a first, and a second.
Leafs flip Heatley to Florida for Vince Troechek(Biggs Center for the gold medal USA team) and a second rd pick.
End result. Florida hits cap ceiling, add a top 6 forward, Minnesota gets two players that fill their current needs, and they can market for years in their continual pursuit of going for it, Leafs get 3 near ready prospects and 3 valuable picks to retool and rebuild.
Vince Troechek, Granlund, Dumba, a first and 2 second rd picks. Making the Kessel trade a lot more palatable.
Chicago gets the #2 center they want as well as a power winger that they need. Sharp and Hjalmarsson out - Grabovski and Kulemin in (+Finn, -McNeill)
Colorado gets to swap one of their 3 top-6 centers for a 1st line winger.
Stastny and McGinn out - Sharp and MacAthur in (+McNeill)
I would probably do this. Gives us longterm control over some pretty good assets. Dumba also upgrades the physical nature of our blueline longterm, which was a weakness. He can likely provide fairly similar PP / 5 on 5 play as Gardiner otherwise.
Granlund is a top top prospect. He's been playing against men for years and looked really good while doing it. Could potentially become our #1 C. + a bunch of picks that give us flexibility going into this draft.
I'd also assume that after this trade, we'd be heading for another bottom 5 finish, giving us yet another big piece to build around.
Honestly, if a Kessel trade gets pulled off this season and gets pulled off well. I think we could get the types of prospects between that trade + our 1st round pick, that we could essentially start building towards being a winner after that, with no further thoughts of bottom 5 finishes (though obviously they could still happen).
There's familiarity there and they are looking for a centre. What is Lombardi's value even? I have a hard time figuring that out haha.

I think we should wait a little before moving Lombardi. If he can show something, we could get a 3rd for him. If he continues to struggle, we can trade him for scraps at the TDD, and eat some of his salary.
Lol what?
Sens are the best team in the league???????
Nonis and his team have probably long in the thought process of what to do with Phil, will he continue to want to be part of the rebuild? Nash got tired of it at 27, the overriding motivation for players is they want to play for a winner, all play for a chance for a cup.
If Phil wants out, then we have to pull the trigger, rather than risk losing him for nothing.
The trade I prosposed would be a dream scenario. Imagine with a prospect pool of
Granlund
Dumba
Troechek
Drouin/Nichushkin
Bailey with our 2nd first rd pick
Rielly
Percy
Kadri
Biggs
From rags to one of the best in the NHL. It doesn't have to be exactly the players above, but something that is a long the lines of near ready prospects and picks. Not bad if Phil doesn't want to re-sign.
