Have you been keeping up with this thread? He may be gone after next year with Leafs getting nothing for him.

You honestly think Kessel wants to be in a rebuild if we miss the playoffs again this year?

no trade clause comes in, after july 1 2013

Yes I have been keeping up, you just misunderstood me.

You said

"For Minnesota to give up Granlund wouldn't you hold out for Gardiner? Fletcher knows Nonis's predictament next year with Kessel. "

I meant that Kessel is more valuable than Granlund so why would the Wild hold out for Gardiner?

If we have to add Gardiner to get them to give up Granlund, when we are giving them freakin Kessel too, then **** that.

Didn't you say on this forum, never count out a prospect on one off year, in this case not even.

I didn't say I give up on him, but I was never sold on him in the first place.
You feel the same way I do about IQ, and let's be honest, Dumba's isn't a strength. He just doesn't appeal in this sense. Gardiner is a heady, great skating, smart defenseman. He has the ability to slow the game down at the pro level, and has shown that he can create offense from the blueline in the NHL. Put all of that with the fact that he's only just getting started, and there's really no justifiable way to include him in a deal for question marks.

Going based off what Nonis had said in his PC, I make a couple deals based on trading younger talent for other younger talent.

To NY Islanders:
F Clarke MacArthur
D Jesse Blacker

To Toronto:
F Brock Nelson
D Radek Martinek

To Florida:
D Stuart Percy
F Tyler Bozak

To Toronto:
F Quinton Howden

I would do the Howden deal in a heartbeat. Not the first one. Not big on Brock Nelson...

Well we are back to square 1 with Kessel then, sign him if he wants to be part of another rebuild or take our chances he stays after the 13-14 season.

All I know, is this forum will be in a foul mood if Kessel leaves and we are playing against Seguin, Hamilton, and Knight of the Bruins with nothing to show for it in that trade.

That might be a low point in Leafs history, and that's saying something with how many low points we have had.

Would do both without blinking.

Let's not play the NHL proven, CJHL is unproven game. Rielly is a question mark also, not proven in the NHL either if the rules are this black and white.

Of course I will play that card, it's a great card.

And rielly>dumba

Besides dumba's iq and size really make me question his nhl prospects. Nazem kadri type prospect.

Sign him in off-season, and if he won't, then trade him. Maybe at the draft.

If I wasn't so lazy 2nite, I would post an image of the Walenda's on a high wire. Come next summer, maybe the one of the falling Wallenda. That's a chance this franchise doesn't need, remember the soft Nash deal?

Kessel and Bozak
for
Marcus Johansson
Tom Wilson
Filip Forsberg

Should help with the draft, especially after Lupul is dealt to the Wings for Jurco and Frk.

I prefer what Minnesota has, but I would do this if this was the best deal at the deadline. No way we can go into the summer with Kessel set to become a UFA after the 13-14 season.

You think there'd be a difference in the return we get if we traded him in April at the deadline vs. a couple months later at the draft?

If we trade kessel, you might as well blow it all up. Lupul and grabbo are temps anyway.

Kessel + prospect for duchene + 1st

Lupul for 1st +prospect.

Clarkie +3rd/prospect for a 1st

Franson for a 2nd, lombardi for a 4th, komi for a 6th (we keep some of his salary)

Then wait until the deadline and trade grabbo for a 1st

JVR-Duchene-Kadri
Kulemin-Connolly-Frattin

Thats how you tank. We bottom out with 5 1st round picks and 2 seconds. You could also trade connolly for a 2nd too (i think he will bounce back this year).

I would actually support this. We would be Edmonton v2

Personally I think both Islanders and Panthers say no

What do you think would make it close?

I think that the Islanders have all of their good young players in their core and need some good complimentary players and maybe some stud dmen.

Howden is going to be good and I would give up a lot for him.
