I don't think that's it. He's been closely checked his whole life, OHL / Mem Cup / Regular season NHL...it ramps up a bit more in the NHL play offs but at the same time watching, a lot of the problems seemed self inflicted, just trying to delay/buy time that simply doesn't exist, needs to make plays quicker.

we lost because our goalie was outplayed by the opposing tender again , hell even with Mo saving a goal Campbell still cost us the game

This has to be tongue and cheek, right? You can't actually think that giving up 2 goals should lead to a loss in a modern playoff game, do you?

What a terrible take, when you're entire team is built, from a salary perspective, around your offense.

Matthews
Marner
Nylander
Tavares (IF he comes back)
Foligno

That's where the responsibility starts. Those are the guys that get paid big money to fill the net up. The Tampa Bay stars are. The Florida stars are. The Carolina stars are. The Colorado stars are. Hell, Boston's and Washington's stars are even producing.

It's not good enough for them to look good. If the top 6 isn't scoring and scoring at a high level, they're failing their team. Period.

Andrei Vasilevsky has given up 10 goals in 3 games for Lightning, yet his team is up 2-1 in their series. And here you are complaining that Jack Campbell has given up 2 goals.

Put up some damn offense and help your friggen goalie out!

Matthews mostly relied on perimeter shots and one timers. He'll need to drive to the net harder this series.

Well I've never seen him take a hit to make a play in the NHL. And you just can't win in the playoffs unless you're willing to do so.

I said previously that the one positive to take from the game was that despite everything that went wrong, we still deserved to win that game based on the scoring chances created.
Posting this again.

"The Leafs generated the least amount of scoring chances (13) and the least amount of high danger scoring chances (5) among any team in any game so far in the playoffs."

I think the schtick is that Andersen had an amazing series last year (1.84 gaa, .936%) but still got blamed for the loss. So he's just doing the same for Campbell in protest. And I think he has a fair point...

solid as a rock ?

he let in 2 muffins and Rielly saved a goal or it would have been 3 muffins , the lengths people go to defend our goalies is astounding

a goalies job is to bail out the team in front of him and make the big save so i've read endlessly on this board , Andy couldn't outplay his counterpart and through the first game the Soup man couldn't either

lets hope Campbell can step up and at least plays avg or we won't be making it to the next round

He had a .933 sv% last night. Your understanding of "average" for Goaltending needs recalibrating

I'd say it's fair to say Matthews and Marner will be expected to produce and getting blanked for a game isn't a good look. Bit nobody should even blink if that tandem destroys Price next game

This Andersen talk is pretty irrelevant to this playoffs. Barring an injury he's likely not going to see much icetime so any debate over him is ancient history at this point

Vasilevsky has given up 10 goals in the first 3 games of the Lightning vs Panthers series, yet Tampa Bay is leading 2-1. Why? Because their forwards show **** up and score goals to support him.

Complete delusion by him. Vasilevski has given up 10 goals in 3 games and his team is up 2-1 in their series. How about the high priced forwards show up and score 4-5 goals per night and do what this team is designed to do? That's a novel concept to some lol.

It's insanity to think you can score at fewer than a 2 goal per night rate and think you're getting anywhere in the playoffs.

Watch Matthews 41 goals, Marner got smoked right after making the pass quite frequently, and he knew it was coming but didn't shy from that.

I think he agrees with your point.

What he's saying is that we lost to Columbus because our forwards couldn't score, and it was outrageous when everyone blamed it on Andersen. So he's "tongue in cheek" doing it to Campbell this year.

It's hard to not be predictable when your star defense men shoots little baby shit soft shots, We will go nowhere with this dude.

Matthews just won a Rocket with Rielly's baby shit soft shots. I do not give a single, solitary f*** about anyone else on the roster. Mitch and Auston are being paid no off day money. Put up or give me my money back.

As I stated in my initial response post... I hope his post has an element of sarcasm to it. Thanks for confirming my suspicion.

Toronto scored a total of 10 goals in the 5 game series with Columbus last year and started the Montreal series with a sterling, 1 goal effort tonight.

1.8 goals per game over their last 6 playoffs games is not nearly good enough for a team with this offensive talent. I don't want to hear about the trap, clogging up the neutral zone or running into hot goaltenders. Other high powered scoring teams are putting the puck in the net, at will, in their respective playoff series and they're being led by their stars.

It's time for Matthews, Marner and Nylander to step up and match the production of guys like Mackinnon, Rantanen, Landeskog, Huberdeau, Barkov, Kucherov, Point, Svechnikov etc... Those young stars are leading the way offensively for their squads. Ours have no excuse not to execute and produce at an incredibly high level. They were shut out twice in 5 games last year and held to 1 goal to start the series tonight.

Not near good enough. Do better.
Every guy you mention is a speedster .. Mitch is slow compared to each of those guys .. Matty is closer but would be in a dog fight for last with Barkov .. Willy can skate with anyone of them except MAC .. we have maybe more skill but we don;t have enough foot speed to break traps and everyone else in league knows it but our fan base

That top 5 d pairing was playing against a top 3 forward pairing.
These are pretty lame excuses.

Plus, if a top defensive pairing beats a top forward line, then we're built wrong. Matthews and Marner had 14 and 11 points against the Habs this season. That line needs to provide at least one goal every game to justify themselves. They're either a solution or a problem, there is no in-between.

The Leafs have 4 5v5 goals under Keefe in 6 playoff games. His system is pure garbage for offense.

And yea the players, Marner has played 1 playoff game in his career that was worth an 11 million dollar price tag that i can remember.

I believe it's only 3 (ignoring the pulled goalie miracle)

Keefe's playoff coaching record is 2W-4L over the past 2 seasons, and in 4 losses Leafs have scored only 4 goals total including 2 shutouts.

The offence scored one goal. Is he supposed to get a shutout for the Leafs to win?

Blackhawks never had any problem with shoddy goaltending.

One more than the last goalie got in 2 of the 3 games he lost and wears the goat horns for. Just sayin.....
