Drunken madness, drunken madness, friend, that's fully punctuated featuring complete sentences. Some of y'all didn't go to no name rural state universities for undergrad and it really shows.
I guess my point slide right off your smooth brain.

This is what you're leading with? This is the play?

It would be nice if Matthews took the team on his back like Mack does for Colorado. Kadri went out for them, and I had no doubt they would still win their next game. JT goes out for us and I really have no idea what to expect tonight.
He answered the call very well indeed.

Not to toot my own horn here but I told y'all to just have faith in the boys. We've played well enough every game this series, and considering the circumstances of game 1 that really says something. We have a good team guys/gals, try cheering for them for a change. In 7-10 years or so when we suck again THEN cry about it.

Hmmm............I thought we all agreed that we need to learn to start playing GOOD DEFENCE in the post season, to have any chance at winning anything.

Then, when we do, we complain about "not enough offence"?

LOL. Leaf fans.

Yeah this Leafs team didn't have enough offense, but now they do because of this thread calling them out. Great job HF.

We played the best offence in the division AND the best defence.

Things tighten up in the playoffs and offence drops across the board. Teams are more risk averse when they have a lead, teams are more aggressive when playing from behind.

The last 2 teams we played are defined by their defence, it’s basically all they really have. Weather that storm and we’ll move on to more open hockey with the airplanes.

One things I have noticed is that this team really struggles to capitalize on an odd man rush or a breakaway. Pretty crazy how snake bit they are on those opportunities. Not quite sure what to say there.

If the Leafs have trouble scoring against the Jets you can bring this up.

Habs know they can only win one way. By trapping and trying to win games 2-1. Leafs know this as well and don’t take too many risks because they know that in the end they just need 2 goals to win so they wait for the mistakes to happen before capitalizing on it.

Leafs can win any way you want to play the game. That's the difference this season. In prior years, we're losing this series with near certainty. But we can win loose or tight now.

Re: the bolded - I think Price is just really freaking good, and in those skill vs. skill situations he knows how to come out ahead. Fortunately the Leafs are fantastic at generating a surplus of quality opportunities, either through greasy goals, skilled goals, veteran goals, garbage goals, or lucky goals.

Price has been elite, agreed. But those issues have been going on all regular season from what I recall.

Does it really matter how much we are scoring as long as we win?

Ultimately in the playoffs scoring always goes down, especially when your playing a team like Montreal who is a defense first team. This is why goalies are critical in a playoff series.

Do not look at series like Winnipeg and Edmonton that dont play D. We can expect our goal output to go up next series. It really depends on the opponent.

So far in the playoffs:

Top 5 expected goals/60:
1. Avs
2. Leafs
(Big Gap)
3. Panthers
4. Oilers
5. Canes

Top 5 goals/60:
1. Avs
2. Bolts
3. Isles
4. Leafs
5. Bruins

...only reason it hasn't been worse for the Habs is because Price has been good in net.

Yea, this thread aged well.
