Can your trade value be high when you’re playing for a dumpster fire of a team and have requested a trade?

If I’m another GM, I’m lowballing.
Zadorov will be appealing to a lot of teams as a rental. The market is broad for a player like him and rentals with profiles similar to his has always gone for more than people expect.

This isn't going to be a market of one. You aren't going to get a dozen GMs to all agree to lowball Calgary for Zadorov's services. There will definitely be competition to add him from contending teams.

He has Bruin written all over him, he would also get a instant raise coming to the states. I doubt Calgary would just take Gryz ,probably needs a sweetener not too sweet though.
Yaaa need a sweetner that why the +

Zadorov has Leafs overpay written all over it.

They already overpaid Reaves to solve their “toughness” problems. They’ll now take another shot at Zadorov.
Treliving loves to spend picks when he has them

This trade request isn’t even surprising. Flames are sucking and have three UFA dmen. I think it is more of a ploy to try and get the Flames to over pay on a contract

Why is Z so overrated on here? He's a vocal bottom pairing (#5) dman who is big, and can make big hits but is prone to terrible blunders. Lacks consistency and earns 3.75M.

He is overrated terribly in here.

Zadarov for Klingberg as the basis.

It has to be. Toronto is dollars in and out. They would need to dump a Dman in a trade they got one as well. They aren't moving Rielly or Brodie if I had to guess, neither are they moving McCabe who they paid a first for his contract.

So then the options are Gio (not happening mostly because he is old and is finishing his career here), Lilly (makes too little money to make it work and is also the future of our defense behind Rielly), or Klinger.

Klinger out, Zadorov in, picks and prospects make up the differences.

Could see something like Klingberg + 3rd + Hirvonen/Holmberg/Steeves for Zadorov + contract

Man, as a leafs fan I can only help but salivate at the idea of having a large, physical, defensively solid dman who wants to win and will stick up for his teammates in this locker room.

I am still angry that they let Schenn go but they could right that wrong by picking up Zadorov. They should also fire Klingberg into the sun and ship him off for future considerations.
Except Z is not defensively solid.

Caps should offer one of Alexeev or Johansen and add a late pick. Flames get pick and a prospect and Caps get somebody who will play every night .

Why does Calgary want any of those pieces? They'll just trade with a team that isn't as bad capwise

I predict there will be a bidding war for him and TO will ultimately end up overpaying for him. They've lacked that Muzzin/Schenn type dman so I can see them being more desperate than other teams. That being said, I think he's overrated but he'll fill a need for some teams that lack that physical element on defense

Its "playoff style" hockey from big brutes that reminds people of the Prongers and Charas.

Well Mcmann was held out of the Marlies lineup tonight for procautionary reasons maybe he's involved
Playin for the leafs today, with Klingberg back in the lineup. Showcase time :naughty:

I’m on HFBoards so, I’m lowballing.
FTFY

Value is based on what the team feels is appropriate and what the market offers. Typically big, physical D always hold some value, no matter what the situation.

Lol at Toronto fans thinking they can replace Klingberg with Zadorov and only give up like a 3rd

It guys like Z who make other players pass or shoot prematurely and make mistakes to avoid the hit.
Guys like Z are worth their weight in playoff hockey where every heavy hit, or mistake to avoid one, adds up and takes its toll over the course of a series.

Still stuck in Forum 40
Zadorov seems like a very Bill Armstrong-type player and the 'Yotes need to improve their defense in that respect. They have 3 '24 2nd rounders as well as 3 3rds. Also have a couple of prospects that are still waiver exempt and borderline NHLers and Jenik, who requested a trade so he can get ice time in the NHL.
I also thought about the 'Yotes trading 1 of their goalies to a different team and then trading for Vladar also. So it might be the assets coming from a 3rd team...

Probably not the best offer but Devils would probably give 2024 Avs 5th and a 2025 2nd + Brendan smith or Colin Miller (cap reasons and wouldn't need him)

Except for every big hit, he is woefully out of position on twice the number of plays. He's a high risk, high reward player -- no doubt. I just don't see how his rewards outweigh the risks, unless he's paired with a really good partner.

I’d rather pay to get Ekholm from a Canucks perspective.
This season? Have you watched them both this season? Zadorov looks like a top pairing defenseman this year. He's been our best player. It's why he's pissed about ice time.

I wish he was a righty. He's a better and nastier version of Hakanpaa. I would love to have him in Dallas to pair with Harley but Dallas needs RHD.
