And Montreal received a 1st round pick for Chiarot.Anaheim received Drew Helleson and a 2nd round pick from Colorado for Josh Manson and 50% retention two years ago.

That suggestion actually piqued my interest and I'm not a fan of retaining on Zaddy (I'd like to save the retention spots for Lindholm, Hanifin and Tanev) or not getting a 2024 pick.Highly doubt LA makes the move. LA management and coaching like the D-core right now even with Englund in the lineup. If he's retained at 50% than it might work but highly doubt LA moves a 1st for 3 straight years (unless it's for an Elite young goalie).
Zadorov (50%) + Vladar for Copley, Bjornfot, JAD, 2025 2nd
My thought as well BUT with the WC spot it does change the possibility making a trade more favourable. If it comes down to Tonight VS Vancouver I suspect Zadorov would go to Toronto just for the fact that Vancouver is not just a conference rival, but a division rival and that does matter in a lot of cases
So you're logic is the flames aren't playing well so they should have their assets for whatever they can get? That may be how the Canucks have functioned in the past, but most teams are careful with asset management and try to take contracts that will benefit the team somehow.Yeah the Flames have to be extremely picky with who can play for them, considering where they are in the standings. If they add any 2nd/3rd liners they may not position themselves well for the Stanley Cup. Especially a 2nd/3rd liner without size!
It's basically a team full of 1st liners with size - like Huberdeau.
Zadorov is in high demand and has an expiring contract. The Flames don't need to move him. Get in line with the other bidders and come up with a better offer.Nobody cares whats the flames want bud, esp when its for a player who requested for a trade
Except that Garland is awful and the flames do not need him at all.My thought as well BUT with the WC spot it does change the possibility making a trade more favourable.
I still think a Garland at 3.2 mil for another 3 years for Zadorov straight up is not a bad deal for Calgary.
Zadorov has said he wants to stay in the past. The backbreaker is likely the Flames refusing to sign him to a long term contract. Since 2017, he's been on 1-2 year contracts. He's 28 now and likely wants a 6ish year deal. The Flames aren't giving him one, and he knows someone else will. So it's stay with the flames on another two year deal or cash in while he can. Obvious choice.A shootout loss to the Leafs was the backbreaker?
Leafs will jump all over that. I'd be willing to go as far as Klingberg + 1stProbably a 3rd round pick
The flames do not need depth players. So Zadorov is part of a big move to acquire a legit first line player or the Flames will want exclusively picks and prospects, and probably just picks, as the flames are struggling to find playing time for all their prospects as it is.what are Calgarys immediate needs or would they prefer the prospect / pick route .
They aren't offering Zadorov an 80+ million dollar contract, like the did with Gaudreau. So just like JG, he wants out of Calgary so doesn't want to win the cup, amirite?

You would think he will be a leaf very soon. The other team I would keep an eye on is Pittsburgh.Just leave him in Toronto please.
Lindholm and Zadarov both at 50% would be my dream haul but it would be expensive 1st+Cowan+Voit+conditional picks and either Klingberg or Domi and Bert going the other wayThe flames do not need depth players. we don't have many 2nd's, I think Robertson, Cowan, Minten, Voit and 2024 1st is our tradable assetsA 1st and two 2nds is the vintage Treliving offer
