Does he have to clear waivers again in October, or can he be directly assigned to GR?

With Luff and Mazur playing the right side….
You have to wonder if Zadina could even get a scoring line role in GR next season.

Would have been nice if he were claimed.

Please help me out here - Doesn't an agent scope out the possibility of their client being picked up on waivers?

Crazy how he signed for 3 years just last year and no one wants him FOR FREE. I wonder how many other contracts we have like this?

Well, he will be injury insurance down in GR. I do root for the guy but man, what a failed pick 6 Kenny gave us.

Confirmed with Link: - Zadina signs 3 year extension (1.825 AAV)

His signing thread, 10 short months ago. Most were saying there was ‘zero/low risk’.

Some of us knew before the ink was dry…

I’m not until the depth pages;
‘I wouldn’t have even given him his qualifying offer’
People didn’t like that…
There is still no risk. Nothing has changed in that regard.

They would be saddled with half his contract, no?

That much cap space > Zadina

Boo.

We may have to attach a pick to this bum.

Chiarot, Zadina and a 2nd (Draper is just going to waste it anyway)

To Chicago for future considerations.

The risk was financial, $1.8M this season and $900k to buy him out. That's a lot of money considering people are complaining that Chris is cheap.

He deserved a QO, but playing with Vrana was his last shot at making himself useful for the team. Then we all know what happened to Vrana.

That contract is so bad nobody wants it. That basically says buyout next season. This team has absolutely no clue how to evaluate players at any level, not even their own. Pathetic.

If he doesn't win a spot at camp he won't be on the roster. Giving away assets to move him helps nothing but your grudge.
You're right on this point, it makes more sense to buy him out after the season because they don't need the cap space. You might as well give up defending him because at this point there is no way the team is going to pay him $2.7M the following season to play in GR.

And as I said before the ink dried, that contract gives him negative trade value. Clearing waivers is proof.

My guess is that he'll get a one year contract at league min after his buyout then off to Europe.

Yeah that’s one draft I can really eat crow on. I thought the drafting of him and Veleno was stellar. Yikes.
I think we all can. But, there would have been torches and pitchforks heading toward Holland's house if we had passed on him. We all thought that luck had finally given us a smirk when he fell to the 6th.

Yes, but what difference does it make?

For $1.8M you can probably sign Nosek instead of picking up Zadina. Nosek had 59% FO wins last season. Zadina barely managed to survive the season, literally.

I didn't think he would not clear lol
Why is everyone so bad at evaluating Zadina? He's not worth $1.8M.

If he had a buriable contract, some team might have taken a flyer on him, but not for a $1.8M cap hit and potential $900k buyout after the season.
