Didn't Jake Debrusk ask for a trade before breaking out? Yzerman's comments do seem to point to a player who is still maturing. Kid is clearly frustrated, but has shown talent in short bursts before. I'm rooting for the Zadina comeback story.

Zadina played 30 games of a 3 year contract, before being waived. Everyone wondered why the heck he got 3 years. I believe the very 1st game of his 3 year deal he was a healthy scratch. Another questionable move by Yzerman.

The nice thing to see about Yzerman at least he seems to admit he was wrong. Unlike Holland any contracts he signs we were stuck with them. Ala Abby. He seems to move somewhat quickly as he keeps turning the roster over year on and year out. Even though we haven't had that big hit yet a few guys have turned out. Seemed to give Zadina a gift of a contract and said prove your worth it. 30 games in. Maybe he spends the whole year in GR and lights it up and gets this massive confidence boost?

I can say this though... HFBoards make sure you remember, Zadina was the most backed pick in that draft by the posters here. Myself included. Never have we had more concensus to make a pick. Turns out it was a total bust, and we would have done the exact same thing!

Rasmussen looking like prime Shanahan compared to these squids. I said he was also a bust but he is SLOWLY proving me wrong.

I'm just confused with what it is that Cleary actually does. Turning a busting high draft pick into a useful middle 6 winger should be the one thing he knows how to do.

The player has to buy into that though which I doubt Zadina would. He isn't exactly known for going to the tough areas of the ice which bottom 6 players need to do to be effective.

Zadina is very coachable. Probably too coachable. He's "managed" the offense right out of his game. But he doesn't hesitate to engage in board battles and forecheck. He's not a heavy hitter, but he's certainly a hard worker.

That is the transdimensional superbeing called "Q" that the Star Trek: Next Generation crew (and later Trek folks too) would run into several times. He's portrayed as both an imp who teases humanity and a pitiless judge who keeps them on their toes.

Became a tad overused as a story point (as all story points do in television) but portrayed delightfully by John DeLancie.

When we drafted Zadina, we were fresh off a season in which our highest-scoring defensemen were Mike Green (33 points) and a 36 year old Kronwall (27 points).

Quinn Hughes had just put up 29 points in 37 games as a freshman playing an hour down the road where our scouts could view him as often as they'd like. But then Zadina had to "fall to us". I'm still salty about it.
