Not really, they have a competent GM, draft well and have had 8 picks inside the top35 over the last three years.
There is some truth to this. In "Mom's Basement Stakes" picking as Buffalo the past two seasons*, I would have this as a top 10:

1. Jiri Kulich
2. Matthew Savoie
3. Tristan Luneau
4. Aatu Raty
5. Jack Peart
6. Matyas Sapovaliv
7. Sasha Pastujov
8. Otto Salin
9. Jake Furlong
10. Alexis Gendron

HM: Fabian Wagner, Tomas Hamara, Jere Lassila, Kalle Ervasti, Markus Vidicek, Francesco Arcuri

*(I consider my rookie effort in 2020 part of the learning curve)

it's that time of year - the WJC is on the way. 3 questions:

1 - who are your team's top 10 prospects ?

2 - who is the biggest riser in your team's prospect group?

3 - who has been the most disappointing prospect in your team's group?

@Saxon Eric ... bruins and prospect master gave his updated b's list recently (i don't consider mason lohrei to be graduated yet, so sticking him at the top...poitras we'll say has graduated):

:bruins

1 Mason Lohrei
2 Fabian Lysell
3 Brandon Bussi
4 Georgii Merkulov
5 Christopher Pelosi
6 Beckett Hendrickson
7 Riley Duran
8 Andre Gasseau
9 John Farinacci
10 Trevor Kuntar
HM Oskar Jellvik

biggest disappointment: luke toporowski
biggest riser: christopher pelosi

Bussi is legit, I've watched him play the Phantoms a few times this year but Jellvik should make your guys top 10 imo hes a lowkey guy for BC playing on Gauthier's line but he's got some sneaky hands like Poitras

some pre-WJC fun.

the great @Saxon Eric posted his bruins list recently. hard to argue with it, and he watches more games than most NHL GMs.
i'd probably try to slide matt poitras in there somewhere.

:bruins

1. Mason Lohrei
2. Fabian Lysell
3. Georgii Merkulov
4. Johnny Beecher
5. Brett Harrison
6. Oskar Jellvik
7. Ty Gallagher
8. Riley Duran
9. Dan Locmelis
10. Brandon Bussi

what does your team's top 10 look like? i tried to find a thread for this and couldn't, apologies to any mods and happy holidays.
Amazing that Poitras wasn't even on the radar last year.

District of Champions
:caps

1. Ryan Leonard
2. Ivan Miroschnichenko
3. Hendrix Lapierre
4. Andrew Cristall
5. Vincent Iorio
6. Ryan Chesley
7. Clay Stevenson
8. Alexander Suzdalev
9. Bogdan Triniyev
10. John Gibson

Not listed: Alex Alexeyev, Ryan Johansen, Matthew Phillips

Biggest disappointment: Alexander Suzdalev. He didn’t go back to Regina and instead went to Hershey but got no playing time and made a mid-season move to the Swedish second division. Left off Sweden’s WJC team because of his lack of playing time.

Faster riser: Clay Stevenson. Late developer from Dartmouth but is one of the AHLs top goalies. Has gone from undrafted free agent to potential NHL call up in about two seasons. He also just signed a 3 year extension with Washington signifying how high they are on him.

I haven't been following as closely this season just because Detroit is finally worth the primary attention again but I'd probably go something along the lines of:

1. Edvinsson
2. Danielson
3. ASP
4. Kasper
5. Cossa
6. Wallinder
7. Mazur
8. Augustine
9. Lombardi
10. Hanas

Could maybe throw Albert Johansson in for one of those guys. I also debated hard over ASP/Danielson/Kasper just because ASP is much more a boom/bust prospect while Kasper/Danielson are more sure things with what's probably a much lower ceiling. Plus Danielson is playing at a lower level than ASP/Kasper. I really think you can make cases for any order on those guys.

Biggest riser is probably ASP followed by Augustine.

If we consider Knies, Woll and Robertson to have graduated

1. Easton Cowan
2. Fraser Minten
3. Nikita Grebyonkin
4. Topi Niemela
5. Dennis Hildeby
6. Artur Akhtyamov

7. Ty Voit
8. Mikko Kokkonen
9. Roni Hirvonen
10. Nick Moldenhauer

Not confident in my placings from 7th on. Hildeby and Akhtyamov have been really good and some of the biggest risers but they're still goalies. Cowan is probably the biggest riser after turning heads throughout camp, 2nd in the OHL and PPG and making team Canada at 18.

Tough to pick a biggest disappointment since the Leafs guys are all pretty late picks and didn't have a ton of expectations.

Hoglander graduated. I also excluded Podzolkin even though he’s not in the NHL as he’s played too many NHL games. He’d probably be in the top 3 given his strong year in the AHL.

1. Tom Willander
2. Jonathan Lekkerimaki
3. Aatu Raty
4. Arturs Silovs
5. Elias Pettersson
6. Hunter Brzustewicz
7. Linus Karlsson
8. Aidan McDonough
9. Kirill Kudryavtsev
10. Cole McWard

Biggest riser would be Brzustewicz. Biggest faller would be Klimovich who I’d have outside my top 10.

Sens top 10 is comically bad for where they are

Their 2020 draft saved them from what would otherwise be 5 pretty awful draft years. They kinda jumped the gun on moving draft picks. To me, you keep them until you're ready to actually contend. Good to have ELC depth when your core is on core cap contracts and you're trying to contend.

hard to get a read on the Canes prospects right now due to the affiliate situation (aside from Pono who's having a hell of a season) so this list is going to be utterly dominated by Euro/NCAA guys.

1 - Alexander Nikishin
2 - Bradley Nadeau
3 - Scott Morrow
4 - Visili Ponomaryov
5 - Jackson Blake
6 - Felix Unger Sorum
7 - Gleb Trikozov
8 - Alexander Rykov
9 - Cruz Lucius
10 - Ville Koivunen

graduated: Pyotr Kochetkov and Jack Drury

in net Ruslan Khazayev and Yaniv Perets are both having outstanding seasons

Rykov and FUS are rocketing up my rankings this season.

Recent 1st rounder possibly being 10th is not good.
