I mean… yeah kind of have to do this. It’s so much stuffFrom Montreal
Reinbacher or Mailloux
Owen Beck
Adam Engstrom
CAL/FLA 2025 1st
Habs 2026 2nd + Columbus 2026 2nd.
Josh Anderson for salary matching
Deal is only valid if he agrees to a long-term extension with Montreal first.
2025 1st
2026 2nd
Willander
Hoglander
I personally do this because I think the Canucks should go for it during Demko's prime and cheap contract but I also believe that Willander will be better than Dobson in 3 or less years
From Montreal, one of our young D and young forwards. Maybe the Flames first? Although that sounds a bit much. Struble and Kapanen?24 year old RHD in the last year of his RFA deal. Scored 70 points last year on a team no one would confuse for an offensive juggernaut. Very bad in his own zone.
Islanders most likely looking for a hockey trade for a similarly aged and valued player, or slightly below with value made up by prospects/picks.
HahahahaPettersson is closer to being Huberdeau than Dobson is to being Ekman-Larsson
This is so bad for both teams.Panarin 11.6+ x 2 retained 5.6+ to 6 even
Trouba 8 x 2 retained 3.0 to 5 even
for
Dobson + raty
presumes both waive b'c LI is close enuf
bread not sniffing 11+ w/Rs
he will not leave now -- local NJ/LI possible exception -- but will waive before last min to avoid ugly look if he is not extended
Trouba has been good but we have elc Mancini + want cap space
next season, his wife finishing current commitments, Trouba nets nice return prob from DET
bread you get dibs on if you want to extend and how much, and
if you need a short term cap dump for balance, we may be able to add
I acknowledge forgetting Raty was dealtThis is so bad for both teams.
Islanders want futures - whether it's top picks, top prospects, or young roster players. They aren't looking for next year bounce back in the scoring department only. Panarin's next deal is completely irrelevant to his current deal. He's needed on NYR for offense and you can't get around that by grabbing another solid dman, one that most likely doesn't take Fox's powerplay time. He'd become another Miller in the lineup when you're not even using him to his fullest ability. You don't blow your open window because one of your highest valued players will stop being valuable when the contract runs out.
Also, and I'm sure it's been brought up within the rest of the responses - Raty isn't in their organization anymore.
Habs shouldn't be in on this if he's as bad defensively as some are stating in here.
Didn’t watch that one game but none of his deficiencies have anything to do with the PP. Hes a top ten PPQB at the very worstMan, that Kreider shortie really broke the fanbase. You guys looked like the better team most of the game.
Moving Panarin for Dobson doesn't extend the window, it closes the current window. We don't have anything to make up for the loss of Panarin. Even if you want to say he goes invisible in the playoffs, we still need to get there. We can look at 2 years down the road and say it would be great to have a Dobson now, but we absolutely need Panarin unless they find a replacement.I acknowledge forgetting Raty was dealt
deal has to be reworked if possible
As far as Rs are concerned, the smart play is to gradually move all higher priced vets, probably Kreider the exception, for quality youth which extends window w/better depth + cap mgmt
As for Is, the question is what is the best return on the table.
I saw some crazy ass props I don't believe.
bread = scoring now which facilitates moving others
also = dibs on if he wants to extend here at a number LI likes
FWIW he wasn’t getting this criticism at this time last year, when the team was getting drilled with injuries on D and he was asked to do a ton. He tailed off a bit at the end and people attributed it to running out of gas but I wonder if a lot of this is just struggling to find his game under a new system with Roy.Even with OP saying Dobson is terrible defensively, people are still offering a boatload for a guy who will use his 70 point season to get a way too above his on ice value contract.
Lou had a window to rip someone off.
respectfully disagreeMoving Panarin for Dobson doesn't extend the window, it closes the current window. We don't have anything to make up for the loss of Panarin. Brock Nelson
Noah Dobson
Trouba isn't moving right now so we can't end that. Beyond that I don't think you realize how bad were going to be without Panarin.respectfully disagree
what you suggest is shortsighted
bread is gone in 2 yrs
don't swap coke for pepsi
get youth w/upside as opposed to nothing on Panarin self rental
also, this moves Trouba now
In theory Trouba might move to close enuf LITrouba isn't moving right now so we can't end that. Beyond that I don't think you realize how bad were going to be without Panarin.
Easy decline from the Isles especially based on what other teams are offering.Okay.
Penguins trade Karlsson next year 50% retained. We bring in Noah Dobson.
Karlsson at 5 million for 2 years. Some team gives us a 1st + a conditional 3rd.
We offer 2025 1st Penguins top 2 protected.
Still could be a 3rd overall pick
Karlsson 1st we get.
Murashov - goalie prospect
Broz - center prospect. Honestly I see bottom 6 or low end 2C potential. A 2nd is his value
Upsides
0 cap back. Do whatever you want with the cap.
2 1sts
A goaltender who could be a cheap cost controlled back up in a few years.
Another forward prospect.
Downside
Not a single asset that helps you today. Just futures.
I did my best the Penguins just don't have exciting youth on our roster.
I wonder if EP40 straight across for Dobson could possibly be a old school traditional hockey blockbuster. EP is signed and maybe Dobson would agree to deal beforehand.
