Welcome to the Jungle
Dougie Hamilton has had a pretty good career so far and give credit even if he did not adjust to the Bruins system.

He currently makes 9 mil per, so tell me why is Charlie worth more as both players stats are comparable. Both can contribute and play defense.

I for one wish that Hamilton was still a Bruin even though many may not agree.
McAvoy to me is better in the DZone and harder to play against. Though he has not yet achieved the offensive numbers I believe he will if put in similar opportunities. I take McAvoy as the higher relative value in the near term and even more in the longterm. Contract status says if we do ot now we should maybe get the same type of contract.

I`m not even worried about it as Sweeney, if anything, has shown to be a very solid GM when it comes to re-signing and at fair value
I am a little, McAvoy is one of the top two way defenseman in the league and he's going to get paid and it wont be under 9mil per. I hope Sweeney makes it happen but I don't have a good feeling about this one.

Disagree.

For one, Zdeno Chara's $7.5 was 12.6% of the cap in 2011 when we won the cup. Charlie at $11 under the current cap would be 13.5%, which is high but not absurd.

Two, and more importantly IMO, thinking long term, this will be a steal. Lock him up for 8 years. The cap allowance has grown 26.7% in the last 8 years, and there's no reason it won't grow and fast once fans are allowed for a full season since there's been a flat cap with Covid and the new TV deals.

In 2006 Chara made 17% of the cap, by the time the original contract ended it was down to 12%. If we have similar growth, by the end of a hypothetical 8/88 McAvoy contract, for example, he might make only 10% of the team cap hit.

He's a franchise defenseman, a perennial Norris contender, just entering his prime now. Don't nickel and dime him. That's a Harry Sinden move. LOCK HIM UP. LOCK HIM UP. LOCK HIM UP.

You realize that would make him the highest paid defenseman in the league? Don't you think to be the highest paid Dman in the league you should be the best Dman in the league? That's not Mac, he's a very good defenseman but he's far from the best.

No he shouldn't. He's not at Hamilton's level and Nurse got overpaid. Edmonton is Edmonton not the most desirable place in the world. 30M on 3 players in Edmonton. Never build a winning team like that.

Hamilton got paid $9m I said he should be within a couple hundred thousand of him. You wouldn’t pay Mcavoy 8.75-9.25?

Hamilton isn't nearly the all-around d-man that McAvoy is, and neither is Nurse. Charlie agent will have a field day with this one.

Nah hamilton is in the same conversation as mcavoy for sure. He’s developed really well

Nurse over the last three years:

GP: 1st - 209
Blocks: 11th - 387
Hits: 11th - 451
TOI: 14th - 24:11 (one second behind Pietro)
PPG: 31st - .526 (McAvoy is 32nd - .523)
PIM: 4th - 192
SOG: 6th - 520 (tied with Gio)

Yea...I'd pay him.

They are paying 20-30 point guy 3.8M per year.

Those are cuts you make when you need cap space, you don’t use your franchise Dman to get cap relief

8-8.5 is where Mac should come in.

I think it’s a touch light with Jones& Werenski getting 9.5M UFA deals.

8.5-9M would be a dream

We had similar discussions like this about other players, so far I'm pretty
Accurate.

I had Carlo at 4M most had him at 5-5.5
I had Hall at 6
I had Debrusk at 3.5 most had him at 4.5-5
I had Coyle at 4.25 I was off by 1M but in retrospect my number looks more accurate than management's value wise.

Jones and Werenski
You will always get some players that are overpaid and I believe these two are a good example. They were both UFAs which is also a factor as they can move on if they so wish.

8.5-9m would be fair market value for Charlie and I believe somehow DS will get it done.

Im down by a goal or up by a goal Charlie on the ice for me, Hamilton only is if I'm down.

If those Two were to be on the same team Dougie would be one hell of a a 2nd pair, but he's no Charlie Imo.

If they are on the same team, Hamilton is on the ice if down by a goal.
