Who was that other dumb f*** 4th line sandpaper guy we had here a few years back? I think he was traded for John Quenneville in the offseason.

Was it John Hayden? He's basically another AJ Greer.

And I don't even remember it happening, but I'm constantly reminded of the time that Bratt was a healthy scratch in the final days of Hynes so Hayden's parents could see him play a game live. Or at least I think that's the story.

Like I said, I can't remember it actually happening.

I've tuned a lot of that season out. It was the beginning of one of the darker periods of my life.

I do remember Louis Domingue's softy of the year in Hiney Head finale up in Buffalo.

I also remember Hayden SUCKED and wondered why we didn't just keep Quenneville and let him go to waivers, rather than take some worthless chump on like that, but that's about it.

I'd argue Vitek stops both. But no need to go into that. It's just that your goalie has to steal one once in a while. Tonight was a very good candidate, I didn't think both goals were tough stops at all.

Eh Blackwood's a dumbass but made more than enough saves for them to come back. Vanecek stops those but how do we know he stops the other 3-5 A+ scoring chances?

Lol yeah Hayden

Buffalo will play Levi vs the Rags on Monday, we'll prob get Comrie

If they are still in it they may start Levi both. But their tragic number is 2 right now and the Isles and Panthers both play Monday as well. Even if they beat the Rangers they could be eliminated Monday if both of this teams win.

They are on the back half of a back to back? We got that game even if they aren't eliminated.

I said in my earlier post that Mac bounced back. I acknowledged it, not sure why that keeps getting brought up. The problem is that he AT LEAST gives up a garbage goal a game. He looks like an all-star for parts of the game, and then just shits the bed with a clunker or a stoppable goal. The inconsistency is the problem.

They'll play Levi going into that game knowing they have at about a ~1% chance to make it. If Isles and Panthers both lose then maybe we see Levi again on a B2B, but that's still a win imo. Kid's relatively young and a B2B against high scoring team after the Rangers the night before wouldn't be good for him either.

technically speaking if he gives up a garbage goal a game... that would be rather consistent...

As much as I loathe Blackwood at this point….and as bad as that second goal was….he isn’t the reason the game didn’t go to OT. Come on, guys. Credit where it’s due if we are being fair….he kept the Devils within striking distance.

In regards to the ESPN crew, GTFO. It’s funny how controversial plays just seem to always find Marchand. It’s no coincidence. He knew exactly what he was doing. That was a shot to the jaw on McLeod and it’s an embarrassment that wasn’t called a penalty. This player is a complete scumbag and I hope that he meets his karma.

Can’t stand Boston. Let them blow their regular season wad and then get bounced in the playoffs.

This is the least upset I’ve been about a loss all season.

You have to tip your cap every once in a while to a team that is disciplined and structured enough to commit to winning the way Boston has. They clamped down and didn’t allow us very much of anything for that final period.

We could have easily cratered after that 2nd goal against but we didn’t. It was a strong effort for that reason.

Fair point, but who knows?

It's whatever. One game sample sizes are just not definitive enough to say ''Well, Vanecek makes that save, but lets a couple of those in'' or not. Vanecek is a better goalie than Blackwood, but that doesn't mean can't perform better in a random game than Vanecek would in the same game. And bad goalies have good games and even streaks. People started to get excited whenever Schneider would have his good games and good streaks, even years into his decline. There's some people that act like a bad goalie is supposed to give up a goal on every 5 shots if he were really actually a bad goalie, or else he's not actually a bad goalie.

Hopefully it's the end of him as a Devil. At least he didn't go out in a blowout.

Brodeur and Schneider didn't in their last games as Devils either.

We need to figure out how to break through the bruins system and have better sogs

It's the sort of game where Meier's muscle should be a factor-- willing his way to the net with the puck after we spring one from the boards.

And ,btw, they controlled the boards really well-- i thought it was the difference in the game.

If anything, this game sets a much better tone if we face them later on vs the lackluster games in December.

Never have I ever seen so much inconsistency with officiating than this year.

NHL preaches player safety and yet don’t punish to scum of the league such as Marchand for his free wheeling head shots.

The main point of contact in McLeod is his head, I don’t care if he’s hunched over skating and his head is down this is exactly the type of hit the nhl has been bitching about getting rid of
