won't make sense for the Sharks, but I'd trade Bratt straight up for Meier easily

If Bratt won't resign for less than 8m we better trade him
The season is young but the kind of slump Bratt is in definitely wont encourage Fitz to back up the money trucks, so I dont anticipate the contract to get worked out in January like some of us were hoping. I think its gonna be a dogfight and players usually dont end up lasting multiple of those.

Nico continued to go into the tough places....Kudos to Smith.....But overall an ugly game effort didn't look good at all and man to get bullied by the Panthers and allow your Captain to get hit like that totally gutless....

- the book is out on us so good teams know how to stop us from playing our game

- no real finishers

- team is soft as shit and gets dominated by physical teams, our stars are undersized so they tend to disappear in these games, and they have no protection so our f***ing captain gets pushed around all night with impunity because they know no one’s gonna do anything about it

So the way to really answer this, I think, is have players that go hard on the forecheck, so that Ekblad is scraping himself off of the wall every other play. Right now that consists of... McLeod?
Wood is a shadow of himself after getting lit up, sadly. God I hope Bastian comes back.

The fact is that goofy folks on the board who don't see this are probably right that Smith taking a fighting penalty wouldn't solve everything.... but it might help a tiny bit.

What would really help is pounding their forwards in the corners, and our forwards being all over the forecheck and agressive with all of the same little crap they did to Nico tonight. Bumps after the whistle, sticks knocked out of hands, extra shove against the boards.

Like you said, book is out if it wasn't already for the past few years - you could see it in the CGY games way earlier in the season but we found a way to fight through it.

Tonight we just got scared and dished pucks away as fast as we got them.

People crapping on Dougie, but he seemed to have the puck the whole night because it wasn't BNico or Bratt or Tatar going for long skates with it. They were busy ducking elbows and shit. Jack zipped around but wasn't really a factor either because Dougie, McLeod, Smith and Haula were the only guys on the other end of passes.

Mercer, Boqvist, Holtz, Zetterlund all were marginally involved.

Long nights when McLeod, Wood and Haula are going to be your only guys making plays.

Positives? Marino and Graves had pretty good games.

Just like moneypuck, who had went from having Buffalo's playoff odds at 50%+ a couple weeks ago, all the way down to 20%-something after a few more losses

I would say odds on first head coach being fired is back to Ruff again. Probably went from 7% last weekend to about 51% in the last week.

The teams that had other coaches on the hot seat started to win games and cool their hot seat down. The Ducks even won 2 regulation games this week after only having 1 regulation win all year before that.

I'd say 3 or 4 out of 6 points going into Christmas probably takes it back down to 15% by next weekend.

Exactly. I'm now in this camp, too.

This stretch was the stretch where Bratt should have made his case for being paid but instead it strengthens Fitz's position and I would offer only 7.5 per (take it or leave it).

The one thing they needed to do after the big win streak was avoid 5-6 game losing streaks. Here we are.

This certainly feels like post-Thanksgiving last year where they have some hard luck (goaltending) losses they devolves into being outplayed. Of course fortunately they built a cushion. Last year they were on the bubble and December ended the season. It won’t end the season this year. But given the last 10 years (even the good year featured a brutal 2 month stretch), it is hard not to be PTSD.

BTW, they are now at NHL .500 outside that streak. So they have given back the two three game winning streaks that preceded it and that came after. NHL .500 they rest of the way (though they are probably better than that given that streak) is 95 points, which is the likely cut line.

Lol there is 0 chance he gets fired this season. Off season ok fine but 0 chance in season I wish there were odds to bet it I would put everything on it lol.

Everyone is playing like someone else is gonna step up for the rest of them instead of everyone playing to lift up everyone else like during the streak.

Yeah, I mean we saw this with Hall syndrome, where everyone's looking for someone (Jack) to work a miracle.

I'm just concerned that we aren't doing the right things - like completing simple passes forward to forward to get up the ice and get into good positions.

You could say teams are taking that away from us, but we are doing it to ourselves too. I was amazed at how many times Hughes would skate around and just pass the puck back to a defenseman because no one was ready for a pass.

The signs were there weeks ago and nobody wanted to believe it. This team will turn it around though.
I have no doubt we’ll turn it around. Our underlying numbers are still top of the league and we played well the last few games. Tonight wasn’t even “that” bad, we could’ve won it.

The 13-game W streak is much closer to our true normal than the bad games we play.

Hot take I’ll be the only one on here but I don’t want him back use the money for him and get a legit top line talent on this roster.

bright side, mcleod is impressing me more and more every game. might be time for a major shakeup and seeing what he can do with some talent.
Doesn't shoot enough, and is not a good shooter when he does.

But otherwise he does a lot of things pretty well.
