I'm lukewarm on Marckstrom but this is complete overreaction to blame him.

Leafs are a good team that got lucky on a fluke goal, and then lucky on a bad line shift that gave Austin Matthews a partial breakaway goal.

I realize they did nothing the whole game - but they have the offensive talent to take advantages that are given to them. Stolarz gave them the opportunity.

Also - Let us not provide the salty tears for other fanbases.

Like yeah sure the OT goal isn't on him. On the other hand the game never gets to OT IF HE MAKES A SIMPLE f***ING SAVE IN REGULATION.
Ya, if Markstrom isn’t 1.7 goals against above expected then the game is on him.

Devils skaters needs a goalie who saves 1-2 goals above expected a game or else the goalie is the problem for that game.

Skaters can’t be expected to score more than 1. Once they score 1 the game should be shut by the goalie every time.

This one took like 2 minutes to get over. We dominated, puck didn’t go in, managed a point— who cares? They win this game 9 out of 10 times.
15 shot against games don't happen against the Leafs. The fact they couldn't pull out a win and the goaltending couldn't bail the team out with that easy of a workload is baffling and a game that is so backbreaking for the team.

It's funny the skaters HAVE to always pick up the shitty goaltending but they can't get goaltending to walk alongside them ever with this core. Just f***ing lunacy and dumb logic by some of this fanbase

I was like the leader of the "goalies are getting too much shit" train last year. This is not that.

They didn't get lucky on a fluke goal. That wasn't a puck getting thrown in front and going off someone's skate. That was Markstrom being a bum.

“score a goal!”

How about make more saves like the other guy did? Who faced almost 3 times as many shots?

How come he can make saves?

And he looked like a bush league bozo on the OT winner. It looked like the Prudential Center custodian was serving as the EBUG.

Now if that was the goal that beat him in regulation to tie the game I don’t think anybody would be crucifying him for it.

But instead he looks like he took a taser to the crotch and missed a real howler from far out.

Shooting fits come and go and they are in a bit of one. They’ll ultimately be fine there and frankly will be adding depth up front.

The long term (for the season) is if Markstrom can be the guy come playoff time and all signs point to no.

No coach in the entire league is hanging their goalie out to dry after giving up 1 goal in three periods unless that goal came on the only shot against of the game.

No one thinks the game like that
After facing 15 shots? Sure, "Marky would probably like that one back" would be appropriate.

It's not like he got shelled. He didn't have to do shit.
