They’ve been shut out five times this year and only scored one goal once - tonight. Every other game has been two or more, they’re allowed a horrible off night or two

In regulation he had a positive goals saved number, which people talk about a lot when it’s negative.

Basically, he had to be perfect or else this game was his fault. That’s a ridiculous standard.

If he made the short handed save but not the glove save on Matthews did he somehow not stink even though he would have given up the same goals on the same shots?
It's not even comparable. You're looking at it from an all shots being equal point of view. They're not. A top 5 goalie, like Brodeur claims Markstrom is/was, makes the short handed save 10 out of 10 times.

I got banned for staying this previously, but Leaf fans warned me that Keefe doesn't always prepare his teams for their opponent.

What more does Fitz have to get him? He handed them a great roster. Ok a winger for Jack and Bratt. Maybe a 3C or 4C. Not many coaches are given a roster like this.

I believe they will make the playoffs, but as a wild card team. We all know Keefe's record in the playoffs...

Outside of his overtime deployment of Palat, which was just bad regardless of opponent, I'm not sure what this means.

The devils destroyed the Leafs pretty much all game and just didn't score. I'm not sure how that means Keefe didn't prepare them for the leafs

They got goalied while our guy was average. You guys said all we need is average goaltending and we’d be a good team, so far this season that’s holding up (even though part of that equation is better defense and it seems pretty obvious that’s the bigger difference as several of us have always maintained). Now people are bitching because they’re still not satisfied with average. So predictable.

Good teams get goalied, it happens. What’s annoying with the Devils is that it always seems to be some combination of a scrub, a former devil, or a NJ native. Or all three in this case. Bonus points for it being a home game with a huge amount of blue jersey away fans in the building.

This team has developed so many quirky negative patterns over the last decade, it’s really bizarre and mind boggling.

Looked like a weird release on the tying goal and he got it off quick. For sure it's one Markstrom will want back but I understand how it happened.

Disappointing to lose a game like that but we'll recover.

He faced 15 shots all night and the one goal he let in in regulation was putrid. How you're defending him is absolute insanity. Should we have scored more? Absolutely but Markstrom stunk, it's indisputable.

Like yeah sure the OT goal isn't on him. On the other hand the game never gets to OT IF HE MAKES A SIMPLE f***ING SAVE IN REGULATION.

Eh. He needs to make that save but the PP and lack of finish cooked them tonight. Not the goalie. The goalie gave up one in regulation.

Everyone is reading too much into this. They completely dominated, which is good! But they have been having issues scoring. Bad. But that can be fixed with the talent they have. Need a complimentary piece upgrade.
The guys aren't scoring right now, but they weren't bleeding chances left and right either. They gave Markstrom a pretty easy game, and when the guys in front of you are struggling to put the puck in the net, your goalie is allowed to bail you out once in a while. I don't think Markstrom has stolen a single game this year. Tonight would've been a good night, while facing a little over 10 shots, to get that game for the guys. He didn't have to do squat.

Passed the quarter point of the season, and the goaltending has not been good. It might actually cook this group. I'm scared.

You didn’t answer the question.

If he missed the puck on Matthews shot in regulation but made the short handed save would you think differently despite the fact it would be the same 1 goal allowed?

If this was a game where we got the better of it but still allowed a decent amount. Say we gave up like 25 shots instead. Then ok you can give a little leeway to Markstrom. He didn't have to do shit tonight besides simply not blow it and he couldn't.

May I ask how the hell were we not prepared? We bent them over all game.

Did Keefe forget to tell our top players to hit the net on their scoring opportunities? Is that what you’re referring to in terms of coaching?

It's funny the skaters HAVE to always pick up the shitty goaltending but they can't get goaltending to walk alongside them ever with this core. Just f***ing lunacy and dumb logic by some of this fanbase
