Using NaturalStatTrick Markstrom gave up 2 goals on 1.85 expected; which is not good but not bad, it’s pretty normal.

Devils skaters finished 1 goals on 4.53 expected, which is bad.

The finishing hurt the team way more than the goaltending.
Ya I'm pissed at Markstrom for that one goal but 1 goal allowed on like 1.7 expected through regulation should be fine to win. You gotta find a way to find the back of the net. 1 on 4.53 is insane

First back to back losses in quite some time. At least they were able to get a point out of one of the games. Frustrating, yes but it’s not the end of the world.

Game is on Markstrom. Other goalie at the other end didn't give up any cheap goals and faced over 3 times as many shots, much more quality as well.

We were the better team, but we still have no goalie.

So either Rogalski sucks or Markstrom is just a loser or just too old.

He'd be an .895% on last year's team.

SCORE A f***ING GOAL. You had f***ing chances all night.

With the amount of shutouts they've had all year, they're still a top 10 offense. How about the moron who got traded here after he whined after Calgary about not wanting to be in a rebuild actually show he's a Cup caliber player? Dude's the Aaron Rodgers of hockey

They’re still one of the highest scoring teams in the league and unlike most games last year the effort was there
Just not tonight or last night or the other 4 times they were shutout.

Did you expect to win tonight with a 1-0 shutout? That's what it it would've taken for our goalie to be the difference... nonsense. The teams shoots blanks regularly.

Eh. He needs to make that save but the PP and lack of finish cooked them tonight. Not the goalie. The goalie gave up one in regulation.

Everyone is reading too much into this. They completely dominated, which is good! But they have been having issues scoring. Bad. But that can be fixed with the talent they have. Need a complimentary piece upgrade.

Oh my god markstrom is into weird conspiracies and anti science too?!?!?!

Pesce starting in case the lose the faceoff makes sense but he should be off the ice for Luke right when they gained possession. it's not really a big deal bc 3v3 is kinda fake lol but I've not liked how their deployments in OT this season - might be the one thing Ruff was better at than Keefe haha

It doesn't make sense. Luke's been more than good enough defensively to handle being thrown out first.

I really wonder what we would have had to add to first and bahl to get Askarov.

Could've just signed Stolarz lol

I wish I was a reporter asking questions after the game . Ask Markstrom “ So. , how do you feel right now. ? blowing the game for the boys after they completely dominated the opposition all game and you let them down by allowing the back breaking goal on an easily stoppable shot ?” I’d get a punch in the lips from him but it would worth it.

Right???

What exactly is this team going to do with Markstrom and Allen in net? This team isn't doing shit with these guys in net in the playoffs. They might actually sink them and make them miss.

Goodnight y'all, this was just stupid outcome on a game Toronto deserved be in the dumpster.

Bad goaltending, bad decision on that last PP we had to be all down in the crease.

A point when Toronto deserved to be serenaded out after a trash game.

Someone hit the net in OT..... Also. And why slowfoot pesce and palat out there at the end

Yeah, Palat and Pesce being out there together was an unforced error.

Incredibly frustrating but I can’t complain too much when we played such a strong game, particularly 5v5. Special teams were excellent for the most part too, except for that one whoopsie and not scoring.

Finishing is a cruel mistress, that’s sports for ya.

Beyond nonsense, we traded a haul for Markstrom and he's on par with Vanecek from last year in terms of statistics. It's ok to have standards with goaltending since we haven't had one since prime Schneider.
He only has a .90-whatever because the team defense/Keefe/defense/whatever you wanna credit.

And this is coming from the same guy who wanted to scorch every Devils goalie last year.

He'd f***in retire playing behind last year's team.

If there's one year we should be able to ''Blame the goalie'' it's this one.

It's not like when Schneider was falling apart and the team was still bad or when Kinkaid was dying behind the 18-19 team or even quite to the level of last year, where we had a decent team, but goaltending was horrible and team defense was also below average. This year it's not.

Yes, you'd like more goal support, but I still think this one is on Markstrom.

The regulation goal was beyond soft, and he misplayed the OT breakaway.

~60% of the game was played in the offensive zone, and Markstrom faced very few high danger chances. Half the former high school goalies on this board could put up a shutout under those conditions.
