Otherwise Marckstrom was good overall. The winner was a partial breakaway from the best goal scorer in the league. What can you do?

Unfortunately the Devils sometimes let themselves get goalied. IMO it appears to be bigger goalies that give them trouble.

What more does Fitz have to get him? He handed them a great roster. Ok a winger for Jack and Bratt. Maybe a 3C or 4C. Not many coaches are given a roster like this.

I believe they will make the playoffs, but as a wild card team. We all know Keefe's record in the playoffs...

He faced 15 shots all night and the one goal he let in in regulation was putrid. How you're defending him is absolute insanity. Should we have scored more? Absolutely but Markstrom stunk, it's indisputable.

Their level is being a good regular season team but a big let down in the playoffs. The Devils did that for years from like 2004 to 2010. It's nothing to admire.

Wild card teams are ones who are on the bubble all year. We have been a consistent playoff team. Things aren't perfect here but they aren't wild card bad.

As always, majority of this board would rather pin the loss on one specific group when it’s a collection of things, as always.

An obnoxious time to hit a finishing lull the way we have the past two games. Created tons of chances, so tough to hang your head there but you have to pot more than 1 to win most nights.

That said, Markstrom has to have that first goal. Such a back breaking one to give up.

Even still, we had countless chances in OT as well and we skied all of them.

They’ll learn from this. It’s frustrating now, but take the point and work on finishing this week in practice

Everyone is reading too much into this. They completely dominated, which is good! But they have been having issues scoring. Bad. But that can be fixed with the talent they have. Need a complimentary piece upgrade.

In regulation he had a positive goals saved number, which people talk about a lot when it’s negative.

Basically, he had to be perfect or else this game was his fault. That’s a ridiculous standard.

If he made the short handed save but not the glove save on Matthews did he somehow not stink even though he would have given up the same goals on the same shots?

I mean. They played legitimately very well. Gotta be able to score more than once when you generate that much. Way too many sticks are ice cold up front right now.

We’ve scored 1 goal in the last 2 games. Thats one measly goal in 6 periods of hockey.

Thats not going to win you games. We are fortunate to get a point out of a one goal performance.

We are snake bit. It looked to me even like we were squeezing the sticks - trying to be too fine. Missing the net. But that also happens when you’re trying to solve a goalie.

Plus the ice was shit again. It really handicapped Jack Hughes as the puck was sticking badly.

Hockey is a funny game. You could kind of feel this result coming when we continued not to finish look after look all night.

The short handed goal was painful. And you really wanted a save there. Really wanted that save.
