All year it was “if we just got average goaltending” and yet this game the Devils got it and the pitchforks are still out for the goalie.

It’s stupid. Markstrom was fine and the refrain is “He wasn’t perfect so he was garbage” when he was the average people clamored for.

It's strange how tonight is somehow the night the offense gets cut slack

Why is Hamilton not getting any black tonight? That backcheck on the game tying goal was bad. Atleast Pesce almost had Matthews. Hamilton got outskated and outmuscled. Guy is soft and pretty weak for his size.

Other than that I thought Dougie was shockingly solid defensively.

We needed another goal, particularly in the 1st, finishing is what killed us.

People can say he’s putting up points but outside of PP offense he has not been good and it’s offset much of the offense he does create. Despite 21 points on the season he’s sitting 10th on the team with an even plus/minus and the vast majority of the guys below him in that stat are bottom sixers. He’s constantly standing up guys in the neutral zone and blue lines letting them get past him and if his partner isn’t in position to bail him out he’s getting burned because his foot speed stinks. I have no idea why a guy whose biggest weakness is skating makes decisions like that.

This was the 1st loss in a long time that got me so pissed off that I tossed something lol.

Making these bum goalies looking like prime MB30. Markstrom/Allen goofing up. 5-5 looking like garbage. And again, most of this crap is on their own home ice.

When the saves he does make don't count, it's nonsense narrative time

Can you actually read what I said and stop picking arguments like you always do? I said the Matthews glove save he made was good but the guy on the other end looked like vintage Brodeur/Hasek. It's ok to have standards for goalie play for f***s sake. And he was out of position on every shot Matthews took on the breakaway, that's not good goalie play whatsoever.

It's not he wasn't perfect. He didn't have to do shit tonight. The boys played pretty much a perfect game in front of him.

I'm disappointed too for tonight. But i'm not nervous about this team going forward. I don't even like Markstrom that much. But one bad goal... wtf else did the rest of the team do?

whatever man. maybe i need another break from this place

The season was over after the 4 game losing streak earlier this season. This is how seasons go even for good teams. Ebbs and flows. Hot streaks. Cold streaks. Better losing a game like this while dominating instead of the other way around.

Not sure I understand the whining about the offense. They are a top team in goals scored. Scoring has not been this team’s primary issue for like three years now.

Palat made a bad read in OT for sure but he was the only goal scorer too.

Doesn't mean the guy should be seeing the ice in OT. If Nate scored we wouldn't be saying it's fine for him to be on the ice in OT because he scored a goal. Cotter would've made a lot more sense. From a principal standpoint alone Cotter makes a lot more sense. Way better skater and better hands.
