Ranger fans losing 7 of 9 following a president trophy season handle loses with more grace then some of you do.

The season literally can't be over after every single lose.
The season isn't over and the team should be fine.

It's fine to expect more of the goaltenders. If they can't make the required saves when the team basically lays it for them on a plater, it's f***ing frustrating.

Markstrom didn't have to do squat tonight, and he couldn't pull it out for the boys.

Well you know the guy above had some good introspection when he said “let me vent.” Just a particularly frustrating OT loss because we wanted it so badly, and deserved it so very much . . . But that’s hockey what ?

All it would've taken for him to actually be "perfect" tonight was stop the softest goal we let up all year. What a CRAZY ask

and then what. You think Toronto just tucks themselves after a 'soft goal save', and doesn't do anything afterwards?

We were not winning 1-0 against the Leafs. They have some absurd record about not getting shutout over the last couple years.

They have too much talent and know how to take advantage of opportunities.

It's not he wasn't perfect. He didn't have to do shit tonight. The boys played pretty much a perfect game in front of him.
The only level better than what Markstrom did tonight was perfection. You go from perfect in stops to allowing 1 goal and he was at the 1 goal level.

The perfect guys in front of him also only managed 1 goal. Only 1 goal above total futility.

The perfect skaters got 1 goal on over 4 expected and the goalie allowed 1 on 1.7 expected. So the guys who couldn’t finish were perfect but the goalie saving more than expected was the issue.

I’m fine saying the goal given up was a screwup. I’m fine with saying the skaters were really good. I’m fine with writing this game off as “things happen”.

I am/will push back on the goalie giving up 1 goal in regulation was a major problem tonight.

I mean if you’re going to complain about the offense, it’s very specific weaknesses like the bottom six not contributing enough and Palat being on the top line. A lot of that is because the entire fourth line has been injured. Even so, it’s still good enough for regular season. It’s in the playoffs where it becomes a problem you can’t escape.

Well, okay then. Maybe he should've been perfect then. He should've tonight. He didn't have to do shit in his crease tonight and the team gave up the least amount of shots they have this season.

The guys in front of him have had to bail out his shitty play way more than the other way around this year by they way. Would've been nice for the favour to be returned tonight. 15 shots against was too hard for Markstrom though.

Most goalies allow a goal on 15 shots on most nights, so that seems a pretty reasonable number of goals actually.

anyways, I am just about #done with Mercer. Dude has not done anything of any semblance since the playoffs of 2 years ago.

I would try and package him for a shake-up. I think his value around the league is probably higher than what his actual value should be.
100% agree. I am so underwhelmed (to put it mildly) by this player….and I’m saying that as a guy who was a big fan of the kid.

People can say he’s putting up points but outside of PP offense he has not been good and it’s offset much of the offense he does create. Despite 21 points on the season he’s sitting 10th on the team with an even plus/minus and the vast majority of the guys below him in that stat are bottom sixers. He’s constantly standing up guys in the neutral zone and blue lines letting them get past him and if his partner isn’t in position to bail him out he’s getting burned because his foot speed stinks. I have no idea why a guy whose biggest weakness is skating makes decisions like that.
No offenss to Hamilton but he should certainly not be wearing an "A". Our leadership is just handed out to the best offensive players aside from Palat.

Yep. At least he buried one tonight. We’ve got too many others who have gone ice cold at the moment. If they can break through against the stingy Kings Thursday I’ll be impressed. They’re probably the best defensive team we’ve played in a while
we need to get the power play back on track. It was due for a market adjustment for sure. But now get back to business.

Look, I get your point in principle. I know you're not winning many games only scoring 1. I agree.

But that goal can't go in, period. It simply can't. In this specific instance tonight, Markstrom had a shutout on a silver platter. The boys bailed him out for bad goals before, he didn't bail them out tonight. That's all.

People have bitched and moaned for years the Devils make things so hard on goalies, tonight was a f***ing chocolate cookie on a silver platter and he dropped it.

Easiest game he'll have to play all year probably, and he couldn't bail the boys out. Frustrating.

It also goes to show how dogshit the Rangers are they actually made Markstrom look good lmao, dude has been mid at best this year besides that game and the season opener.
