With Bernier taking the opportunity to lose the first 5 games he's played, the #1 starter role that he never legitimately deserved in the first place had to go up for bid again. Anything else would have been madness.

Hopefully, Babcock is also telling the rest of the management team that they need new goaltending scouts/analysts. The fact that this team has not had a #1 goaltender probably since '03-04 is terrifying. I don't mean "put up one good season" - sure, Reimer had that one shortened season with a .924 that got us into the playoffs. I mean a legit #1 goaltender year in and year out.

But I'm really hoping and pushing for Reimer. I think he's unambiguously that guy without the multitude of concussions he's suffered. Bernier, I fear, is just not good enough.

Reimer does have a .890 sv% good for 35th in the NHL.

Bernier has a .902 sv% placing him 28th overall among goalies.

Neither goalie has provided NHL level type performance so far this season, even with the reduction in shots against.

I'm excited to see the Winnik - Holland - Lupul line.

I didn't think that Spaling was adding much to that line as it looked like Winnik and Lupul were the ones making that line successful. I think they'll be better with Holland there.

Prior to Montreal, Bernier as .923. If it's so early in the season that one bad game drops your SV% by .021, it's too early in the season to judge goalies on their SV%.

I expect a Leafs win tonight.

Leafs are near the top in shot differential and Coyotes are near the bottom.

Home ice lets Babcock make the line-up switches.

I wish it was that easy.... I'm more old school: Yote's on a roll, Buds not so much. 4-1 AZ :help:

Our first game against a Western conference team. The NHL likes to start and end the year for all teams with intra-conference games.

I'm happy with the JVR-Kadri-Komarov line. They look good together, and they've been our three best forwards so far.

Losing Spaling, Bozak, and Gardiner is going to hurt us a lot though, All three are in our top 10 best players.

Better than judging them based on which guy people liked coming into the season which is more likely to happen.

I remember when Tie got that suspension for elbowing Niedermayer he said he son asked him what suspension means and Tie replied that it means he wont play hockey anymore

A little piece of all of us should be cheering for Tie Domi's kid.
We are going to have a bad year anyway ... kinda hope Max does well tonight.

Why would we want to cheer?

why... exactly, do we need to cheer for Tie's kid?

I don't get it either. Almost wishing I didn't dump this one just so I could boo Tie when they show his smug face on the board. Such a dislikable ass.

Jeez guys. Tie was a leaf for 10 years ... and entertained quite a bit.
His kid led Canada to the WJC championship.
Max Domi also has Diabetes ... so he is an inspiration to a lot of kids.

You know you can be grown ups sometimes ...

He's the enemy. Hope he finishes -25.

Sucks that he has diabetes but that's irrelevant to the hockey game.

You cheer, we'll boo!

That way he will be confused and miss a few shots on goal.

I expect the Leafs to win this one, I think a lot will need to go wrong for them to lose tonight.

10 years too many.
Immature to assume that someone needs to grow up if they don't agree with you.

When people ask me why I canceled cable TV I point to NHL blackouts. A couple friends just came over because they were set to watch the game on TSN4 but it's blacked out in our region, which is ****ing BS. Luckily I have, ahem, other options for watching in HD.

Why are people so grumpy here lately?
There's a certain segment of people who seem to disappear whenever things are going well, then when it starts to look grim they swoop in to talk about how this guy sucks and that guy sucks and everything sucks and I suck, you suck, we all suck for ice suck.
