I have to say I don't like Rock coming in and taking Cody's spot, but I'm surprised at the traction of the #wewantcody movement. The smarks were shitting on him as the white meat babyface as recently as him winning the Rumble.
Still feel like there's a swerve coming...
If it ends up being simply Cody vs. Seth and Rock vs. Roman for the respective titles, than this has been very poorly executed making virtually all 4 parties look bad.
But considering there are almost 9 weeks until WM 40, there has to be more to this than meets the eye. I mean, say on Monday Cody challenges Seth and both matches are set. What the heck are they going to do for the next 9 weeks of TV plus another PPV? On one side, you have two babyfaces, on the other side, two part-timers. Seth and Cody aren't even in any factions or alliances so what are they going to do to build their feud? Neither have any lackeys to help drive the story forward.
And let's be honest, right now on the surface the Rock/Roman feud doesn't have much meat on that bone to chew on. We already know they are cousins and It's not like The Rock is going to take over the Bloodline faction.
I still think the whole thing will wind up Rock vs. Roman vs. Cody which was their intention all along. And by doing it the way they did it, they found a way to get heat on the biggest movie star on the planet, while generating an even more positive response to the guy they've been trying to build as their biggest superhero character. And they can still do Roman vs. Rock a bit later at Summerslam or next year's WM without the title as part of the equation. Talk about a win-win-win.
