What's crazy is, this reaction kind of proves they absolutely succeeded in making Cody the #1 white meat babyface that they have wanted for years.

People are invested in Cody finishing the story and are pissed he isn't going to do it.

Which makes this entire situation even more baffling.

Would love to know what Dwayne said to Cody. You could see it on Cody's face the entire time: he didn't believe in anything he was saying and he looked upset.

Wonder if Dwayne learned from Daddy #2 and pulled Vince's "this is best for business pal it'll be such good shit" then dropped Dusty's name or something.

It's WWE though. This is something everyone knows could happen.
I can’t say I didn’t think it would, but I am surprised by the late-stage shift. In the Business, anything can happen. People on the board had to have been wanting a way in to it.

In the past it used to be Vince pulling this kind of stuff. But now with what we know, Dwayne is the main culprit behind it.

As others have mentioned it, the IWC and the fans who know what's happened will absolutely make Cody the #1 babyface in the company know and I'd be willing to bet that HHH will be making sure he gets all the help from HIS creative now.

So rather than continue with the hottest baby face in years with the hottest story...they have said baby face win the rumble, point at and basically call out Roman. (Keep in mind rumors say Rock forced this match with tko backing before the rumble)...for him to say naw, I'll take the easier, less important title against injured Seth, who begged me on Monday.

I've lost all hype for Mania now. Cody vs Roman II would have been great. With no Punk at least there were some creative marchups that could have been made (Drew, Sami, Gunther) but now we have to see Cody beat Rollins a 4th time for the loser title thet got brutally buried.

No one is going to boo The Rock. He'll get a massive pop and all the idiots backstage will pat themselves on the back thinking they've done the best possible outcome. But burying multiple talents and titles all for Rock to be gassed on his entrance and most likely put on a very slow and boring match that will be like 6 minutes long.

What an absolute disaster

PWI saying that Brian Gerwitz, VP of development of Dwayne’s seven bucks productions and formerly one of Vince’s longest tenured head writers, is back in the mix on creative representing Dwayne’s voice and will be on site for at least major shows. He could be what they call a ‘plan B’ if Endeavor decides they need to “pivot WWE’s direction to a Johnson-backed creative team down the line”

Bad PR is something that keeps Dwayne up at night, so it's not impossible he gets some cold feet and let's them pivot after seeing the bad press from this.

It's really not something Mania needed either. Both nights are just about sold out. Product itself is the hottest it's been in years and a big reason why is the booking has been sensible.

Most fans will forgive predictable booking as long as it still makes sense.

They don't really get a smarky crowd anymore, so I can get why they thought maybe they would just go along with it, and last night's crowd did exactly that.

But I think they badly miscalculated how good a job they did building Cody up and how invested their audience has become in him.

WWE crowds f***ing love Cody.

I can’t stand Cody, but i still think they did him dirty. This week. I also think it’s best if he loses to Seth. That shouldn’t be the ultimate prize for him, and if he wins again it kills Rollins, especially when Cody inevitably chases Roman again
